3-Way BTA Split

My BTA has been in the process for the last few hours of what sure looks like a 3 way split. He wasn't very big to begin with, and I had been nursing him back to health after a pump overheated. Now each will be about the size of a nickle. Anyone have experience with BTA's that small after a split? What is the survival rate?

I think I had a 3-way split on a BTA once after a slight powerhead incident. Got pulled up against the strainer, but managed to pull away on its own (except it took the strainer off the powerhead). Anyhow it split 3-ways shortly after ... each clone survived and regrew.

Most of the time I've only had 2-way splits but just every so often I seem to notice one 3-way. Not sure what's up with that, guess it just happens.

Anyhow, I'm not sure about heat stress, I'm not sure how long the recovery may be. But I'd give the clones some time, if after a week or so they look better, try feeding them and they'll grow larger.

Good luck.

Thanks delphinus!

It was starting to recover, it had regained a lot of it's color back, and was eating well. I have another in the same tank, that also went through the same heat stress, that split a few weeks ago, and it's doing great, but was bigger, and only split 2-way.

Today's splits are super tiny!!!! I'm going to be cutting up some pretty small pieces of silversides for a while. (after it heals of course).
