30 Gallon Cube Twins

Dropped

New member
This will be my first reef tank, so I'm keen to build a custom setup to mimic my fresh water tank, i have pulled these post from my thread on another forum so if it reads kind of funny thats why

So it will be a carbon copy of the tank below

Dimension 600 x 45 x 450
Glass 8 mm Low Iron
Style Rimless

This tank was made by Greg at Tanks4u in New Zealand

Greg has built my new tank, which im due to pick up tonight, so will post photos once i have this in my grubby mits. I have also ordered all of the wood required to build a stand for each of the tanks (fresh/salt), which i should have this weekend.

My vision or idea is to have two identical tanks side by side, one fresh and one salt water

This is how they will site once both are completed.

Here are some photos of the tank, i will definitely be taking it back to have the edges polished, if he wont polish it ill just sell it.

I also added a picture of my fresh water tank that it will be sitting beside once both of the stands are complete.

Turns out i messed up the measurement for the rear panel so ill need to get that recut which sucks as i could have finished the stand this weekend!!!

Test fit of the tank sitting on the stand, super happy how it has turned out so far.

No door on

Second stand built, just need the rear panels for both stands and i can start to sand and stain them over the next few days.

Looks exactly the same but everyone likes photos right!

Moved the contents of the FW into the reef tank for a couple of days while i install the corner filter in the FW, then ill move it all back and get started on the reef!!! will break down the tank and send it off for drilling and polishing.

Reef tank Left, FW right, still need to stain the FW stand.

My sump has now been built and im due to pick that up tomorrow. I will also be dropping the tank off to be drilled and have the edges polished.

Once i have the tank back ill start to plumb up my herbie overflows.

Return pump, i used a piece of silicone pipe to reduce any vibration, which really was not needed as this pump is virtually slient.

Full shot of the sump and plumbing, ignore the water level as at this point the pump had just turned on.

FTS, ignore the light, its not the light ill be using.

Heaps of crud in the water after the build and being in the shed, will be draining it and cleaning everything before salt water goes in.

LOVE the idea of having them side by side. I have saltwater and my kids all have FW. My oldest daughter wants a SW tank. She actually tried to use her car money for a tank. :)

Side by Side was cool, but if you do it, just remember that you are limiting you viewing angles.

Im just concentrating on my salt water tank now.
