300 Fixer up'er Build.....

Been wanting to go "Bigger on a Budget" for a while now....had sum of my friends looking for me also...we found a 300 gal tank.. metal stand..sump..1 horse return pump..for 400 bucks.....went to check it out...it was a mess....the person found a small anchor with a anomone on it while he was diving...and put the whole thing in the tank.....everything died and turned to rust...all pvc..acrylic sump...all was drained and stained.....I offered him a hundred bucks..andf he took it...so I ended up a all glass 7'x3x3 tank...

Looking at that sump I knew I was gunna need a 125gal..or a 180...I wanted a pretty big ref...I live in FL close to beach and do lots of collecting...so before doing any work on the sump...told my friends to keep there eye's out....sure enough..a 300 gal all glass come's up in the paper....I call...it's 4 street's ova from me..so I go check it out...The woman said her son brought this thing home..put in the garage..and has'nt heard from him....she thought it was a 300..but I told her it was a 180...not drilled...not to many people would want it....maybe for snake's....but that's about it....she said she just wanted the damm thing gone....she wanted a 100 buck's for it...I offered her 25.....she tookit...

The Tank God's were on me that week...Had some 1/2" glass from a old tank....had it cut...and made my sump...

now it time to grind that stand down to bare metal..or close to it..

Now it was time to skin the stand

gunna be a few weeks till I git enough guy's to set the tank...lot's of little thing's to do before then...

Envious - nice find! I am also on the hunt for the same dimensions tank. I don't want to cave a purchase the Marineland 300 DD.

lol....you dont know how close I was to buying that same tank..lol....so far I saved 5800 bucks....sorry about the dimentions....it's 84"x30"x30".....haveing a little trouble finding a light set up.....or what kind to buy....any idea's...

You could always DIY a set up or led fixtures. i picked my 165 watt fixtures for 225 each new. they are 55 x 2 watt leds with royal blue and 14k white.

oh yeah and awesome buys Wish I could get a screaming deal like that!

Tanks again....Well i found a 6' outer orbit light fixture foe now...3 150 watt MH double ended...4 actinics...with moon lights....for 200 bucks...here's a pic with it on my 5' 120...

Im going more fish than coral's..my Queen Angel dont bother my Monti caps...so im gunna load up with red's green's and purple's up high in the tank...and whatever else i can git away with with her..lol...started building the canopy...gunna leave the top open...

cant wait to git it on the stand and start plummin this baby....my buddie just got back from the key's with a little gift for me..spot fin butterfly...she's doing good so far..eating pods from the LR..mysis..and black worms...I can watch her from my bedroom.................
