300 gallon, 10'x2'x2'

Well here we go again, lol. I'm planning on steel stand, 55 gallon sunmp, 55 gallon refugium, dual 4500 gph Reeflo's for CLS, ASM double modded Skimmer in a mixed reef (LPS, SPS, and softies) 16 T5's. This is a 6 month project, as I need to buff out the tank, worse than EXPECTED when purchased.

I'm going to drill the bottom of the tank for the CLS, any experience with that would be appreciated. Also, thinking of using cinder block in the back section, any thoughts?

Well, anyway, ANY advice for improvements is totally appreciated.
Weeeeeeee, spend baby, just spend.Hahahaha

These are the photos from our return after a 20 hour trip to pick it up. Great trip though, total guy trip, thanks Adam and James!

I can't see any pics! I am having a similar sized tank built so I really want to see pics. You found this used? That's amazing. Mine will be 120" x 24" x 21" so it's just a little shorter.

Oh and btw I buffed out a badly scratched tank and it looked beautiful when finished. I used a random orbit sander with micro mesh. It was not hard at all and took a few days several hours per day with about six different grits. Don't do it by hand. It will be extremely time consuming and just suck. I tried it by hand at first and was so glad I switched to the sander.

Did you by chance pick this tank up in the mid west? I saw one for these exact same dimensions and I nearly made a offer on it. It would have fit in my room perfectly, however I couldn't convince myself to make the leap from a 46g to a 300g. Good luck and can't wait to see the build pics!!!

Yes, i got it Midwest, not complaining so much as adding another task to complete.

Chi / Amanda, did you follow a thread or instructions somewhere? I've done many, many things in this addicition, just not buffing out a tank. I'd appreciate any info.

I sent the stand plans to the fab shop today! Stand with an integrated light stand is started.
Ordering bulkheads, screens, gate vavles, and about 95% of plumbing tomorrow.
Sump is being built this week, actually meeting with the builder tomorrow am, dropped off this am.
Refugium is already built and being used in my current system.

That leaves the research on buffing the tank, whew! big job, but I want it perfect!

Just sanding the tank with micro-mesh. Should be working on the stand by next month. The buffing/sanding is really easy using the sander.

The bracket in the rear will hold an "L" arm. It'll lock via a lock bolt, also slides up and down 36", for maintenace. Next step is cleaning steel, wire wheel and paint.
