300 gallon deep dimension tank

I'm finally going to move back to a big tank. I've got a buddy that has a 300 for sale locally and I'm thinking about buying it. I've heard some talks that there are problems with these tanks. What's wrong with them? It's brand new and it's a glass tank that's got silicone and braces holding them together. What is bad about these????

I was also ready to get the Marineland 300 gal DD and found all of the leak threads. I am waiting to hear back on a custom build from MRC (hybrid). In the end, a little longer wait for the build (10-12 weeks is what I hear), a bit more expensive as well as the current set up (180 gal) living in the basement will be worth it for peace of mind of a stable set up.

Good luck with your build!

No problem with mine, 4 yrs running. They're great tanks, yeah probably a few lemons out there, but also lemons from other manufacturers as well.

Worth it, though!

Worth it, though!

A LOT more expensive - 2-3 times the price!

In our case, we already had a plumbing issue (house, not aquarium) and all of our floor is getting ripped up. I personally think it's worth it to pay extra to make sure there is no leaking on our new flooring. We are having MRC build a hybrid 300 gallon tank and sump. Everything is custom install.

Been in this hobby way too long (early 90's) to go this big and not do it custom.

You get what you pay for.
