It's not set up yet but so far I love the 265 but the depth of the 300dd is super intriguing

Tough decision, I already have the 265 set up in wall. Would have to shorten my wall a ft. But the extra depth is "Super Intriguing".

Go for length if you want to do larger fish. 6ft limits you. Should do an 74x30x24-27 ;) that's my dream tank and I already have the 300

The 265 fits perfectly. My house is oddly designed so as awesome as the depth of the 300 is. I can't afford that much depth lost in the room. If it's in wall I think it would be hard to really appreciate the depth of it

I am with ChadRaay. The 300dd is an fantastic tank but ask anyone who owns one about trying to work at the bottom back. It just to deep to work with easy. I went with an 8'x24x29 Works out to almost the same gal but for tangs it going to be great. Plus it will look even bigger. 24" of depth IMO is plenty

That's true, I didn't think about working in it. I can barely get to the front side of my 265. I have actually stuck my head in the water a couple times. lol.
300, I wouldn't be able to reach the front. I would have to cut a hole above the tank, on the viewing side in the living room, in order to get to the front. Sounds like a lot of work.

I would not change in your case.if you had a smaller tank then I would definitely. Get the 300 over the 265. I love every aspect of my 300dd.
Best tank I have ever own.

Tagging along here, as I was considering a 300 (8' long x 31 high x 24 wide). Would love to see folks opinions for sure!

the 8ft 300 is the way to go for ease of working on it and the longer tank can provide more swimming length for a lot of fish. this is important if you want some of the larger fast swimming tangs.

the only thing I don't like about the longer tanks is the lighting costs. the wider tanks you can get away with less lights of the tank cause the can cover the spread front the back.

Tank wow factors when you walk in and see them imo is length. not depth.

I have an 8'x3'x2' and obviously in my opinion it's the perfect setup. Getting to the back isn't a big deal if you get a decent set of grabbers.

Personally I don't think it's worth tearing out an installed 265 for the 300dd. If you wanted to go to an 8' tank, then I'd understand since it opens up your fish options a bit more.

I voted 300 but when i heard its going in the wall i changed my mind. I think you lose some of the dd wow by not being able to see it from the side.
