300G inwall 'stalled'

Hi Dave,

No build thread here, but over on the Canadian site.

Nice tank. You said Custom built if for you, but did you mean Concepts? I haven't heard of Custom Aquariums before.
I just recently switched over my tank from trying a proper DSB to a bare bottom SPS. It's pretty much impossible to get what you need to do a proper DSB in Canada.
So, starting up from scratch as of a couple of months ago.

You've got a great setup up going. It'll be nice to watch your updates.
Which Mitras do you have? The 6100's or 6200's?
I have 1 6100 and 2 6200 plus 2 4' ATI hybrids. You're probably going to need to add more lights eventually.

Thanks Mitch. So your thread is on Canreef?

Yes I meant to say Concepts not Custom, I'll look back and see if a can edit that. I have the 6100, kinda bummed as two weeks after I bought them they came out with new version, now I'm a few versions behind and there still in the damn box. I may need more light for sure, I have a aquascape and lighting vision in my head that I might get away with two, so we'll see?

thanks frank...

Yeah I agree on the Stenner pump. I plan on doing the same thing. This weekend I replanned a few things from my previous ideas..

From NewSW -> DT (fist part of pump)
From DT -> QT (second part of pump)
THEN
QT -> Gravity fed overflow to drain.

I had been looking at a lifebreath for my house for a while.. (like years) Have not pulled the trigger though, and I have the space setup where it would go straight into the feed/return duct work.

Regarding the Lifebreath or any HRV, I'd fully recommend them, total takes care of moisture issues but above and beyond a de-humidifier it circulates your house and fish room with fresh air. If there is any down side it would be you can sometimes hear a fan kick on and ramp up if the house is quiet and your close to it. Mines a few years older so I'd suspect that they are even quieter. Not loud by any means just like any forced air furnace fan really.

Nice pumps, I was going to upgrade to a 12 k but never saw a need to run my 10 k on setting 6.

They seem good, my idea was all the same pumps for all my needs and dial them back as needed and one extra on hand to swap out for any failure. That was the plan but two Wavelines on back order and a Jabsco in the mix being hooked up to my saltwater / RO station. One thing I already like about the Jabsco is 1 1/2 plumping all around, the Waveline hs 1 1/4 on the outlet and 1 1/2 in.

Moving along to the RO/DI, salt water mixing and storage here is the 120G RO/DI tank with the 60G salt water mixing tank. Thats also the other end of my 200G sump from a previous picture. Above that is my counter for reactors, skimmer, a QT tank. The wall behind is going to be where most electrical will be mounted. Excuse the mess on the counter, work in progress.

Every thing about the room is trying to save space and try and lay it out as tight as I can with full access to every thing.

There is my late night finished water mixing station update. I did have one leak, the output form the Jebao pump has a small drip on that coupling and shows me the need for a union right above that connection. I do have some interesting observation / comparisons from the Waveline to to Jebao but I have to go watch Canada get some more medals.

Please let me know if you have any concerns with my set up or questions.

OK Once they are done with figure skating and moving onto hokey then we can talk.

Until then... what is up with the waveline?

I have a Speedwave 10k and love it, i think it's just a rebranded waveline. I was going to upgrade to the 12 k but i just started running mine on 4 so don't even see a need.

Canada USA Russia in the finals would be sweet!

Nothing is really up with the Waveline just kind interesting observations running side by side and comparing with a Jebao:

Waveline controller and converter look more tech, controller has a fan yet the Jebao controller does not get hot, the Waveline with a fan does. The converter gets hotter on the Waveline while the really basic looking Jebao does not get as hot. I like the on -off switch on the Waveline, Jebao does not have one. Waveline controller makes a little noise, Jebao does not, both pumps seem equal in noise, almost none. All this could be moot anyways as I'm also comparing a Waveline 12000 to a Jebao 6000"¦ that it thats all thats is up.
I'm impressed in the early stages with both.

Who knows really, the word I heard on the street was Jabao was the manufacturer of most the pump brands and they then released there own version. Does not really matter lets just hope they work for long periods with no catastrophic failure, if (when) they fail, they are cheap enough to replace and I'm sure they are all getting better every release.

Mr. Wilson was helping earlier on with some tank design and flow ideas and we talked about our mutual hate for filter socks, the cleaning, the replacing, pulverizing of detritus into water column and he sent me this diagram for another way to clean detritus out of the water column. Water goes in the middle from the overflow and gentle travels through the open pore sponge were it holds it for export instead of grinding it. To clean, take container out slide in another container all ready with a clean sponge ready to go and clean the dirty sponge. Ready for next use"¦ Thanks Mr Wilson!

Closed loop tank heating off the home water heater.

Can some one steer me to the thread that has the drilled PVC pipe to thread the PEX through to make a coil? Please and thanks!

After 20 years of reefing and longer with fresh water tanks I did my first water change with out a bucket, Brute container, extra pump, hose or drip of water on me or the floor!!
Three values and it was done so much nicer. Called the wife in and showed her, "look I'm doing a water change." She didn't really seem to excited and just said, still please no water changes please before we are about to walk out the door on a holiday. I was always doing that…

Wasn't a real water change but it was removing fresh water from my salt water mixing tank to replace with RO/DI water and started making salt water for the first time in my mixing station, worked great. As soon as my system produces enough water I can get on placing rock and aquascaping it. Getter closer…
