A little more progress on the tank and the plumbing. I was having problems with the lack of space I have on the side of the tank where all the plumbing and the closed loop pumps are. I wanted the closed loop pump and the Gen-X PCX 55 pump to be up as far as I could get them so I will not loose much head. It should be worth the extra effort

The area will have a access door on the side and the whole stand both sides will be drywalled in. My return pump and sump will still be located in the basement.

We got the braces on the tank also installed the small overflow box but still have to get black plexi around it. Also got the Starboard in.

Here are a few pics of the progress.

Little more work done. Tank is almost full of RO/DI water. Finished the plumbing of the 4-way. Educators still have to be installed.

Think I will have enough flow?:D

probably part of the most exciting thing about setting up a new tank is when you first add the water to it...i don't know what it is about this hobby.,but it does get ya excited..

can't wait to see this thing up and running..awesome planning job so far..

That is a nice looking setup! Hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions.

What is your stand made of, looks like a black plastic stand (I've always liked them).

The gang valve you have on the top pump, what sort of valve is that, never seen anything like it. Is it electric, so the different ports open and close giving you a random pattern? Also, where'd you get the black pvc? Is that sch. 40 or something else?

Very nice!

Mad Scientist, Thanks

Triggerfish, This is so true LOL. Can't wait to get the water up to the overflow.

reef-fossil,

The stand is from my old setup skinned in plywood. It will be covered with drywall and built into the wall painted to match the walls.

The valve is called a OM 4-way. Yes it is electric. Uses a drum inside that turns to give random flow into the tank. The black pipe is not PVC it's ABS. I used this because it is black. Looks better with the sides of the tank that I painted.

Thanks again for the comments allot of planning has gone into this tank. More updates to follow.

I was testing the Penductors with the Gen-X Pcx55 pump. Wow shoots all 8' across the tank then comes back under. I moved the pump however just under the living room floor. The fan on it was to loud.

I made a nice cover from some leftover black plexi I had from my overflow. This should keep splashing and noise to a minimum.

Here is how I did my overflow pipes (Dursos).

I did a few changes to my pump setup. I first got rid of the dart was having problems with it. I upgraded to the Hammerhead. I moved both the Gen-X PCX-55HP and the Seq under the floor in the living room. No noise no heat very please with the outcome. I should have done this from the start :) My flow is crazy in the tank. I added 5 Large show pieces of LR. My water is still a little cloudy from the salt. Stable at 1.023.

I will take some new pics tomorrow of the tank.

Wow. I'm really impressed. It makes the 125 I just built look like a nano. One day after I graduate and finally get some real money I would love to put together a set-up like yours. Tell a bit about your equipment. i.e. Protein skimmer, sump size, are you using a fuge?, lights. I look forward to seeing some more pics. Jim

Looks awesome HD.
I just put a eductor on my 90 and with the genx and half the tank doesn't have sand anymore, lol. Worth the flow increase though. Those things are incredible!

Nocturnal,

Yes they are great! i have ton of flow with them and the Hammerhead on the 4-way.

Here are a few pics of the tank got my lights up. Pics are not the best I need to box in the top of the tank. That is the next project

The fish picked them up from my LFS. I had the regal from my old tank. The large Naso with streamers came in from Hawaii. The LR are big show pieces (Haitian) I'm waiting for more to come in from my LFS.
