300G Tank, 3 yellow tangs...is a purple an option?

I have a 300G tank:

96x30x24

Stock list:

1 PBT (the tank bully at first)
3 Yellow Tang
1 Blue Hippo
1 Orange Spotted Goby
1 Desjardin Sailfin Tang
2 Small Black Ice Clowns

I was thinking about adding 1 final fish, not sure if my stock list is too heavy. 3 large islands of rock work, I am eyeballing a purple tang at the LFS that's crammed into a small tank with like 8 other tangs and seems to get along. No idea if having a larger tank will help but I am concerned he will mess with the yellows.

I don't have any aggression issues now, the PBT was the first guy in the tank and he was not happy when I added the yellows. I used a mirror on the side of tank for a week and he has since not had any issues.

I don't think the yellow tangs will be the issue. The issue I see is the PBT but with proper introduction using an acclimation box, it should be fine. You may also need to take the PBT out of the tank for a week or so.

I've got a Powder Blue, Chevron, Naso and pair of Sailfins in my 350.
If you try to add a purple, I'd make a BIG acclimation chamber out of egg crate to see if they are going to beat the new kid up.
Hard to catch fish in big tanks, especially when they are already scared!

Based on my tank size and stock list would I be shooting myself if I added ANY other fish? Won't be doing the tang but thinking about 3 bartlett anthias...

I have Purple x2, Yellow x2, Chevron, Tomini, Convict, Hippo, and Desjardini in an 8' tank with no troubles.
Your mileage may vary. ;)

Your purple tang is OUT for sure unless you want to take chance. As for adding more, you have a 300G with only 9 fishes...you can stock much more than that.

The best advice is probably to not try to add any more tangs. Not saying adding a purple couldn't be done, but it's likely to be a 50:50 proposition. If you must do it, then pre-conditioning the fish with QT, using a socialization box, and picking a specimen that is larger than the residents would all help with the odds.
