3130 Motor died

Hello Roger,
I bought a 3130 about 6 months ago and have been very happy with it so far.

Recently however I have been having problems with the motor. a couple weeks ago it shut down. I took the motor out, cleaned it and it started up again but the skimming action was not what it once was. The motor stopped again yesterday and I can't get it to start up again.

Any suggestions?

I did get a box late yesterday by UPS, that says Hasbro toys? I have yet to open it but should get to it by the end of the day.

I sent a PM yesterday? Anyway, it was just badly fouled with calcium, it took a long soak in vinegar to free everything up. It has been running since noon and if the wattage stays steady till 4pm I will pack it up and ship it back today. It takes 26W which is on the high side of spec but likely this is just due to wear and probably some residual calcium and air in the pump.

I got your message, thanks a lot for the help.

I had been adding Kalk to the container that holds the skimmer. I am guessing you think that had something to do with the fouling. I will add the kalk differently from now on.

Do you think the rest of the unit would benefit from a vinegar bath?

Yes, the pump looked almost new after about 12 hrs in pure vinegar.
