3155 Osmolator

Had this system about 6 months, worked great. Cleaned out my kalk reactor and now pump will only run for about 30 seconds before it slowly dies out and stops. Contoller still says pump on but not pushing any water. Any suggestions?

Inside the controller is a component called a PTC, it acts like circuit breaker and cuts out the pump in an overload. The pump can cause this overload if (in order of probability), the head pressure is very low allowing the pump to rev up to a high speed (short hose lengths such as pumping to a sump), the PTC is faulty, the pump is failing.

No, we need to figure out the culprit, the pump is the least likely culprit. You mentioned cleaning out the reactor, in doing so were any hoses shortened or rerouted or pinched, anything that could alter the head pressure on the pump. The PTC is a safety the prevents the pump from drawing more current than can be supplied and breaks the contact in such an event. A short hose run is the main culprit, it is designed around a typical install with about 4ft of head pressure. It is actually more likely to have a PTC that is faulty than a faulty pump, it is also possible the pump is jammed maybe with some lime or sediment that came out of the kalk reactor.

I never took the pump out of the res, just unplugged the tubing coming from the pump to the reactor. I also soaked the pump in vinager over night. hooked everything back up and it wouldn't pump to fill the reactor back up. I would say the head pressure is about 4 to 5 foot.

Yes it is still under warranty and I did get an order from your location that I thought might be yours. My guess is the new pump may solve it temporarily but really the problem is likely the PTC and the same problem will recur with the new pump after some months. Do you want to send the osmolator in, that is what would be required for a proper repair? Do you want to cancel the pump order or keep it on hand for a spare (pumps usually last about 2 years and having a spare is not a bad idea). The only other culprit that comes to mind is the same overload condition can be triggered if the euro connector that connects the pump to the controller is wet or corroded.

If the order was for Park Ave it is for me. I guess I would like to send it in for repair. How long will it take and where do I send it? I'll keep the pump.

Electronic repairs take slightly longer as they are more complex, usually we complete a repair in 24hrs, for this I need 48.
