3165 Pump help/ replacement

I tore down my nano tank and sold my 9002 and my Tunze 3165. When the 3165 arrived at the new owners, the pump was no longer working.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement pump?

I sold it cheap so it may not be worth it but I would like to try and make it right with the guy I sold it to before I have to give up and return his money.

TIA

If it worked before it left and doesn't work now, the usual issue is just some salt crust and calcium seized the impeller in the pump after it dried out. All that should be needed is to disassemble the pump and soak the pump and impeller in 50/50 warm water and vinegar. The shaft stays stationary and the impeller spins on it so this must be free to move. It may also be the impeller is broken, it would have the same impeller as the 9002 skimmer so he could move the impeller over to try it. The pump is 1073.008 and would run about $35. The impellers are about $9.

Followed the instructions for cleaning and pump is not making any noise. The impeller looks fine. Any other ideas? Any idea why it would work one day and not the next?

What is the replacement part? Best place to get it?

Thanks.

If it makes no hum or vibration, the motor is dead. I would not know why it died after shipping, that is odd. Your original pump was likely 0800.040, however you can use 1073.008 in the filter, it is the new version and it is cheaper. You can order either pump from Premium Aquatics, Tunze.com or Aquarium Specialty.
