hello,
I tell you a little bit about my system now and post some pictures tomorrow.
the tank: (82" x 24" x 40"t) is made of 1" acrylic on all sides and was made by leemar and is now about 4 years old. the tank needs a new top, I recommend scott at About the Reef in tempe he has a lot of experience building large tanks and about 6 months ago he quoted me "around $600". all four sides of the tank are clear acrylic, no black background if you wanted to do a see-through type set up the overflow is positioned on the side. overflow is currently drilled with 2" drain and 1.5" return.
the stand and canopy: the stand is made of 2" by 3" steel and is 45" tall. which means after I layed a plywood board on the bottom I have 42" of clearance! this was particurly important to me seeing other large tanks with less room and limited filtration options. the stand is painted black and I never got around to building a wood skirt. the canopy is custom and hard to describe. It is in two pieces connected with a hinge the large piece is L-shaped which is in the back and over the overflow on the side (two six foot vho's and 2 x 400 watt mh are attached to this piece) the other piece acts as a swing out arm when you need unrestriced access to the tank (this piece has 2 x 6 ft vho's) I did finish the wood covering for the canopy, it is pine stained in dark cherry. the front lifts off and one of the sides swings open (for feeding no pieces have to be removed, just swing the side open like a door)
etc: the return pump is a sequence baracuda about 18 months old, the skimmer is a top-fathom 39" tall tf-300 (skimate cup connects to another resivor for convenient disposal) with a mag drive 18 pump about 2 years old, the sump is a drilled 100g glass tank (18" x 5ft? x 21"t) magnet is a magnavore 8 and the ro/di is a sprectrapure 5 stage.
there is still about 150 to 200lbs of fiji left, 210lbs of sugar sized sand, no corals worth mentioning left, and 2 fish too two big for my 110g a blonde naso with streamers about 10" and a pacific blue about 8" and a lawnmover that is too aggressive for my 110.
all bulbs are due to be changed except 2 of the vhos.
anyone is welcome to come see it, all questions welcome, My intention is to sell the whole thing if that isn't possibe I will part it out, starting with those 2 large fish
thanks,
Justin
