I have 3500 GPH in a 120(48x24x24)

Its split as follows:

2x1320gph Powerheads(Korilla type) flowing from the left side of the tank.
1x600gph Powerhead(Korilla 2) Flowing from back right side pointed to the front of the tank.
500GPH return(metered this at 501.45GPH) split between two Return sites one from the left corner angled at about 45 degrees and one in the center back pointed to the front

Ive been playing around with placement, and we will see if it stays this way, but Im wondering if I have enought flow.

I want to keep SPS and LPS. Ive seen figures from 2500-8000 as being sufficent and just wondering if this will be enough for my plans before i get to the point of adding corals...

Thanks!

Brad

You're about 30 times turnover. Fine for LPS, not enough for SPS though. You may be able to start at that, but for SPS you usually want over 40 to 50 times.

I have a 105-110 (Odd dimensions, roughly 4'x2'x20") tank - I'm running 2 Koralia 1400s and have a 700 gph return. Personally I don't feel it is enough and am considering increasing my flow with a couple more powerheads. I have too many stagnant zones, despite the flow bouncing a lot off the walls. I have predominately LPS with some zoas and a couple SPS. SPS are growing slowly, but growing. LPS and zoas are growing fairly rapidly.

If you have a spare powerhead laying around, try throwing it in your tank for a couple days and see the effect. It might give you an idea if you have enough/too much/not enough flow for your likes.

yeah your supposed to have at least 10-20x minimum..at 20x with a 120 is 2400gph..so yeah that would be perfect..i like to have a little more flow..you can always change the flow direction..
