375 g Reef/ 600 g System stuffed in my office

Sandy

Thanks, the vacation is top priority, we go to this same beach house every year. It has two decks right on the ocean, the relaxation factor is off the chart, and the entire family really enjoys it. It's our favorite week together and we really look forward to it.

Do you keep your skimmer running with the slime coat? I always user it in QT and should have thought to use it with the move ... Duh! But, it makes my skimmer go nuts!

The beach house sounds beautiful! make sure you take some sunrise pictures

I live 1000 feet from the ocean and have only taken 1 sunrise picture! I swear I'm gonna do it again someday :)

I have not notice my skimmer going nuts, maybe because I use so little???
I say just try a few squirts and see what happens!

I wish I still lived 1,000 feet from the ocean. I did back in college and for a few years after and really miss it.

I'll be going to the LFS in a n hour or so to stock up on Zoe, Selcon & Stress Coat. If they have some, I'll pick up some cleaner shrimp too.

Here's a pick from the deck of the house we rent from last year. Judging by the lighting and beverage on the railing, I'd say it's right around 4:00 PM! :D

Hey all!

I am back! The fish are doing OK. The heniocus seems pretty good, still shows some signs of dealing with the ick. The Yellow Tang, is still a little rough around the edges but better then when I left. But the fact that both are alive and a bit better is very promising. I'll begin fattening them up real good!

Something messed up on my light timer and there was a couple of days of blackout, at least two that I can guess. Seems to be that the wall plug fits loosely in the socket, so maybe that's it?? A few corals lightened up bu they seem OK now. A couple a frags did not fair as well. It definitly knocked back the algea that was starting to grow so thats a good thing!

An odd thing, is that my temp controller on the chiller seems to be working now. Go figure?

Thanks Laurence!

It was a great week at the beach! The first stretch of seven nice days in a row New Jersey this year. Although, that's just the way the weather patterns cross over NJ here, as it did rain back home several days while we were at the beach. What an odd year for weather we are having, just an unbelievable amount of rain this summer so far, and very cool for us.

Welcome back Bax,
Glad to hear all is well...... well almost anyway!
Hope you and your family had a wonderful time at the beach!
Did you take that sunrise picture?????

"What an odd year for weather we are having, just an unbelievable amount of rain this summer so far, and very cool for us."

Better than the opposite, Here in texas its 100 degrees & what the heck is rain?

Looking forward to this months elect. bill. Last year I got a 1200.00 bill...

That cool weather is sounding a little better now, huh?

Great thread, still following.

Thanks! We're used to it being hot and muggy but not too often does it hit 100 or above. When it does, it's miserably humid. Gotta love New Jersey!

My yellow tang was looking ickish, but eating well when I returned Saturday. He ate well Saturday, Sunday, seemed skittish Monday, but that is the norm for him. Yesterday though he was hiding, not eating and not even attracted to food. This morning he was DOA when I arrived :-\ .... Bummer!

The YT was my first tang I ever kept. I really did not want one in the 120. But my wife did, so she got it, as always, and he really turned me on to tangs in general.

The henioucus still looks ickish too, but is eating like a horse. I am treating all nori & frozen foods with garlic guard & Brightwells AminOmega vitamin goo. Nasty looking stuff, reeks of fish oils, but the fish love it! Drives em crazy! It is supposed to be good for the corals too.

So the 375g is all set up and you just haven't moved stuff over or....what's the dealio?

Currently, every thing is in a holding system while I sort out many issues relative to moving my buisness first. Then I can worry about the display tank. I am doing everything practical to set up this holding system so it will easily convert to permanent system components as the display comes on line (fuge etc.).

The 375 is sitting on a pallet in my shop awaiting my attention to complete the repair of two out of four cross braces. See page 3, about half way down for photographic proof that the tank does exist! :)

The cross braces were cracked by the previous owner when he rested the hot MHs on them during maintenance. I've got the easy one removed but the next one will be a bit more tricky to get off. I have a sheet of glass I have to take and have cut to size for the replacement pieces.

Once that's repaired, then, I still have to devise a plan to get this monstrosity into the office. I picked up the tank thinking it would go into my previous office space, that would have been a breeze! The door to this office is 28", along a entrance way that is less then 6' across. The tank is 30" x 30", 8' long, and easily over 1,000 pounds! The stand is even wider! At a minimum, I'll have to remove the door jam, sawzall out a bit of framing, move the tank in, some how, and then replace all the removed doorway structure! .... Still scratching my head on that one!

Bax,
Sorry to hear about your yellow tank :(
It sounds like you have the repair under control.
But that doorway.....
WAIT, what am I saying.....
You can do that!
You are a man with many tools!
I have never met a man who didn't enjoy using his sawzall

Thanks Ebob954! Drop by and give me a link to your build.

Bax,

I have never met a man who didn't enjoy using his sawzall

Truer words were never ever posted here on RC!

Yeah, the YT loss was a brutal hit to me. Timing is everything, and it seems every time I have a big tank move or major system change it is just before my vacation or I get called out of town for work (which is rare) when the tank needs me the most. But, the family needs me too, so the vacation is very important. I just feel bad about the tang or any of my critters for that matter that I can't help.
