Here's the convict tang. These guys don't get nearly enough attention IMO. Very attractive, well manered, good grazers, not much not to like!

I don't know why I have not had luck with them in the past. I did not put them in QT before adding to the tank. I've bought them both online and from LFS's and most times, all they did was to swim from side to side in my tanks. I never saw mine eat Nori from the feeding clip, so if you can get yours to do that in QT, you will be miles ahead of me. I don't know if size had anything to do with them, but mine were always smaller than the majority of other tangs in the tank.Originally posted by Bax

What do you think is the main reason you can't keep them? Is it collection, or shipping related or just poor acclimation of the species to the aquarium? I guess I am really asking, am I doomed? You and Cougarman are my tang mentors so your opinion counts big time as I delve into keeping tangs in relatively big numbers.
I saw a small one this morning at the LFS that was cute and active, but looked like it hadn't eaten in weeks.Originally posted by Bax
I have read that the convicts are very timid as tangs go. So, this guy is a little bigger than the other tangs I plan to aquire. With any fish, I generally prefer getting juvis and watching them grow. With the convicts all the very small ones I have seen where very thin. This individual is about 3 1/2" and had some thickness through the body along with great color so I pulled the trigger.
