38G Nano Stocking Suggestions?

Hey everyone, I've had my Nuvo 38 up for about a month now.
Seeded it with my 60G tank, etc, everything is doing great.

The dimensions are:
24 Inches left to right
19 Inches up and down
19 Inches front to back

And there's maybe 26 gallons in the main display, 5 gallons in the hidden "Sump/filter" area

So far I have
1 Mimic Filefish
1 Starry Blenny
Numerous hermits and snails
2 Mushroom rocks: green and red
1 Pagoda
2 Leathers
1 Frogspawn

As far as fish go, I'm thinking they need to be peaceful, and not semi-aggressive. The Mimic is pretty small and timid, but he's not timid now because there's no danger; I don't want him to hide

Any suggestions on fish? I've been looking around, but can't really find anything that catches my eye.

Just got my 38 last night. Doing a leek test on it now. The stand that came was damaged in shipping so I can’t set up the tank till my new one arrives. I have it on the floor in the living room for the leek test full of fresh water. I found some odd things about this tank. Let me add right here I am already in love with it and it still only full of RO/Di water. The tank looks like a master built it, and then his half retarded neighbor came along and glued the filter in. After removing the black cover from the back area for my fuge I noticed so much black silicone smeared everywhere that I though wow was his guy finger painting with silicone. Once I got all that cleaned out of the back I tested to see if when filling the front water would sneak under the horrible silicone bead under the false wall. Yep it did. Then I added water to the two overflow boxes to see if they held water. No they leak as well.

To be real honest none of what I just wrote are deal breakers they will not affect the functionality of the tank. I was just surprised to see how sloppy everything was back there. I love let me retype that LOVE the spill way boxes, vary insightful. I will be using these for all kinds of different media till I find the right mix I like. Have 6 different compartments allows for a variety of uses. I found that if you take the boxes out the tank it makes the most relaxing trickling water fall noise. That was not sarcasm. I like that even with the boxes in place you still have room behind them to add a fuge or heater or both and room for probes. How cool is that a AIO that gives room for all this equipment.

Ok so for the most part I love this tank but I am not sure about this glass piece that sits on the little plastic pieces. I love the idea of it but with all the condensation that collects on it every time you take it off you have to have a towel ready to catch the runoff and where on earth do you put it? I will post some pix latter on how this piece of glass sits on the tank if you look you’ll notice it does not match the shape of the top it is off by a lot. The other thing I noted that is odd to me is why they did not make the two overflow boxes go to the bottom of the tank in the back. So strange I would think they could save a lot of time cutting the extra piece of glass (x2) and the time to glue them by just running the glass to the bottom behind the false wall. If you own the tank you know what I am talking about. I think this may act like a benthic zone, we shall see. I also noticed the glass is not starphire “low iron glass” again not a deal breaker but for $400 I think you could give me bent starphire.

That’s the Pros and Cons of the tank so far. I will add that for a plug and play AIO this thing is “Beast Mode”. If you are looking for a AIO look into the Nuvo tanks I don’t see another AIO I would rather have.

TundraGuy,

I was just curious if you had any update on your Nuvo 38? I just set one up a couple nights ago. I too noticed that the water leaks from the front tank into the rear.

How do you like the tank so far? Anything I should look out for or ideas you may be willing to share?

The only idea I have to far is to make a glass piece for the back part of the tank to help control evaporation.

First off.....are you aware of a starry blenny's needs?

Second if you have a starry blenny, no need to add a wrasse to give him competition for food

Unless you have a 3 inch sandbed, stay away from a jawfish

If you want peaceful, you want to look at dartfish, firefish, gobies, maybe some blenny.

And If you need a peaceful tank, I dont think a clown would work out well.

My stocking list ideas for my 38 gal tank-
common clown (never had clown aggression issues in my last 2 tanks)
royal gramma (or dottyback/basslet)
pink streaked wrasse or possum wrasse
firefish (any of the 3 types)
Midas blenny
gobies

Hope that helps!
