3D printing for reef tanks!

Hooray you fixed the Radion arm! I'm so glad. Now I don't have to give back my new hammer & torch frags! LOL

Nice work man. The best part of having one is just for the reason of the bracket. You break something and you just make a replacement.

How do you design parts to print? Might take the plunge and buy a 3d printer..also whats a good printer to purchase?

Yep, that and goofy custom stuff that nobody manufactures because not that many people will need.

Tinkercad is a great beginner web based CAD program for simple stuff. Fusion 360 is a lot more powerful but has a much higher learning curve. Both are free for home use. There are lots of great printers out there, ranging from cheap kits you have to assemble, to ready to print models. Just do some research and figure out what is best for you. There are plenty of youtube reviews out there to help decide.

How about a 3D vortech dryside? Mine fell of and busted a couple days ago

Wow, sorry to hear that. Not sure if I can fix "busted" might be able to do slightyl broken.:hmm2: What broke, the housing or internals or both?

Sooo... I bought a 3D printer at the start of the year and it has come in handy for several reef related uses.

I picked up a broken radion mount in trade for a couple frags and was able to replace the broken piece with a printed part.

No, I did not make the pins because I didn't know they existed. I suppose I could extend that trapezoidal piece at the top if it becomes problematic.

I saw a commercial last night, the "greatest man in the world" used his 3D printer to make a 3D printer!
