3rd time is the charm. My 230 gallon ELOS reboot

Great tank build! Love the dedicated fish room and the choice to install in the basement! Great work.

Can you post a few more pictures of the pluming and salt mixing station?

Thanks!

Will post more pictures soon. The freshwater reservoir and saltwater mixing tank are on a shelf above the sump and still getting plumbed. The reservoir serves as top off to the coral and fish QT and for the RODI flush for the RODI filter. Water changes will be performed using gravity drainage rather than a pump.

The Spectrapure is plumbed directly to the display tank sump with a Spectrapure solenoid controlled top off system. I was a little leery of this approach at first, but the system appears to be pretty foolproof. I'm also thinking of controlling this with the Apex with a maximum run time programmed in.

Currently, I'm draining the tapwater used for testing in the display tank and starting to make RODI for the display tank.

Let there be water! Better shots in a bit.

Nice sump

How do you like the dreambox so far? Does the filter sock area make any noise? I'm wanting that same sump for my upcoming build.

Yeah I was mainly concerned with the transition from the filter sock area to the skimmer chamber since there is that drop off. I wondered how loud the waterfall sound was

The dreambox is awesome. The "sump room" is dead silent (with a full siphon in the drain line) and the loudest thing is the whisper of a hum of the Red Dragon pump...which is really quiet.

Loudest thing in the room by far is the pump for the RODI unit...

That is a REALLY nice setup with very nice products. Best of luck and I can't wait to see it mature.

Well...as with anything this tech intensive and complicated, there has to be snafus.

I was working in the fish room last night when the Giesemann Aurora suddenly went dark. Checked the surge protector it's plugged into: power/protection is on. Plugged it directly into the outlet: nothing. Unplugged it for 15-20' and plugged it back in? nothing. Tried to connect via Bluetooth to the fixture: nothing on 2 different computers.

SIGH.

3 years into the process of the new tank, a previous flood, multiple family issues getting in the way of the reboot: all overcome. And, now a dead light fixture.

I've contacted Coralvue.

Let's hope they and Giesemann stand behind their incredibly expensive but amazing light fixture...when it's working.

Choice of equipment is top notch and the "rock" structure looks terrific.

I hope that you get good resolution on the light issue.

Will you be using a screen top to prevent jumpers?

Thanks.

Trying some other options instead of screen netting...such as a custom polycarbonate cover, etc.

Kudos to Coralvue and Giesemann customer service!

Coralvue immediately contacted Germany and Giesemann is shipping out a new unit. I will then return the defective fixture to Coralvue in LA.

Thanks again for a quick, painless, and complete resolution to what was a stressful and upsetting situation. Electronic things break...I get that. It's the after sales customer service thetas critical in these situations.

Hopefully the electronic glitch is a one off event...
