4-54W T5 HO Fluorescents

A few people I know have 2 x aquablue and 2 x pure actinic03 and are doing great. They original have 6000K, aquablue, and 2 x actinic03. They change the 6000K because of the color and w/ 216w T5, they don't need the 6000K for growth.

HTH.

Think Im going with 2=Actinic/Blue Plus,2= and Pure Actinic 03

Bulb choice is going to depend on what you want to keep and your choice of how blue or white you like your tank to look. This is what I am doing in mine, but keep in mind that I am not keeping SPS's on any of this tanks, but, if I was to keep sps then I will add a ge daylight bulb and make it 6 bulb overdriven by a ice cap 660 and 430, I hope i don't confuse you more.
By the way the aquablue is not blue but rather white light, dunno why is call like that!

blue+
aquablue
blue+
actinic (SA if you can get it)

or, replace the back blue+ with another aquablue if the first one would be too blue for you.

if you run 2 blue+ and 2 actinic 03, i think you might find its a little too blue. Itll be REALLY blue

if you do like the blue color, but not extreme extreme.

id run 1 aqua blue and 3 blue+

2 aquablue and 2 blue+ will give you more of a 14k look.

id stay away from the actinic 03, they provide the lowest par, and look very similar to the blue+ anyhow.

the ge daylight bulb will give you the most par above them all, it will highlight the reds and yellows in your tank more. i ran it, and didnt like it too much though, it was a tad yellow for my tastes.

the majority of people run 2 aqua and 2 blue+(what i run) with great growht and color.

URI just came out with a t5 actnic too, might want to look into those. i bet its an awesome bulb.

Here's where I got my kit from. Saves you $60, great people. As for my bulb combination I have 2 6500k, 1 actinic, and 1 aquablue. I happen to like the color, it's just right on the white level, I'm not really into the blueish color, but it's mostly up to you. My corals are all doing fine and I have SPS, LPS, and softies, but hey if you don't like your combination just order new bulbs their not that expensive ($12-$25 +shipping) defenitly cheaper then MH bulbs.

How about the new URI T5 bulbs? \The same quality and reliabilty as VHO URI bulbs but in T5 configuration. No guessing working, just use a 1:1 ratio of daylight to actinics.

It's all a matter of personal preference. I found 3 Aquablue and 3 blue+ in my system a little too blue for my taste, and I now run 4 aquablue and 2 blue+. In your case I think 3 aquablue and 1 blue+ may be too white. When you order your bulbs you can order an extra aquablue so you can try different combinations to see what works for you.

I noticed that the kit said (Bulbs sold separately) I think it would cost more money

seedsetc does not sell retro kits or just parts, try reefgeek.com they have the next best prices
Rogger Question:
Sunlight Supply -vs- Icecap......I like the idea of dusk/dawn but dont think you can do it with the icecap.......Im looking at 48" Retrofit: 4-54W T5 HO Fluorescents...but its a toss up between the Sun or icecap.....?

If you are talking about dimmng a ballast, I dunno of any of these ballasts that can do this. However, if you are talking about the sequence in which the lights go on to produce that effect, it is going to be hard with a four lamp sys using the icecap 660 because this one ballast will fire all the bulbs, however if you go with 2-IC 440's then you can use each to fire 2 bulbs, in that way you can have each come on and off at different times.
The other thing you can do if you decide to upgrade later on to six bulb's, you can use an IC660 (4bulbs) and a IC440 (2Bulbs)

ok im going with:
Blueplus=4x54w Icecap retro
aquablue=2x54w Tek w/slr reflectors
