Hi folks,
Here’s my 300 gallon Reef Tank. It measures 96â€Âx 24â€Âx 30â€Â.
Total water volume is 360g with the sump.
I’ve had it running for about 8 months, but haven’t found the time to take all the pictures and get it posted.
I ordered in in March 06, it arrived June 4th. I added water to it on July 4th after getting it plumbed and installing all of the equipment.
I’m not a very good photographer, I did what I could:
Full Tank
It’s mainly a reef tank. My family and I enjoy the corals but I haven’t spent much time collecting them yet. This will be the focus of my efforts going forward.
It is made of 3/4†acrylic and I had it custom made by Chris at Midwest Custom Aquariums.
He made the tank, sump, steel frame, oak stand, and oak canopy to my specific requirements and did a great job. The stand is powder-coated steel. It weighs 1,000 pounds dry. (Thank you to all my friends and neighbors who helped me move it into the house)
Here are some photos of the tank just before he shipped it to me:
Setup after production
Tank, just prior to shipment
I had some very specific requirements for the canopy.
I wanted a “false wall†built at the top of the canopy to house and hide the lighting ballasts for my Metal Halides. The tank sits against a room in my family room and I didn’t want to see any wiring or unsightly components. I also needed sufficient space from the bulbs to the water and space to work on the tank.
Top of Canopy
1,600 Watts of Metal Halide Loving
The return plumbing is 1-1/2†and the drains are 2†PVC. I have two overflows with Durso stand-pipes.
