Hi folks,

Here’s my 300 gallon Reef Tank. It measures 96”x 24”x 30”.
Total water volume is 360g with the sump.
I’ve had it running for about 8 months, but haven’t found the time to take all the pictures and get it posted.

I ordered in in March 06, it arrived June 4th. I added water to it on July 4th after getting it plumbed and installing all of the equipment.

I’m not a very good photographer, I did what I could:

It’s mainly a reef tank. My family and I enjoy the corals but I haven’t spent much time collecting them yet. This will be the focus of my efforts going forward.

It is made of 3/4” acrylic and I had it custom made by Chris at Midwest Custom Aquariums.

He made the tank, sump, steel frame, oak stand, and oak canopy to my specific requirements and did a great job. The stand is powder-coated steel. It weighs 1,000 pounds dry. (Thank you to all my friends and neighbors who helped me move it into the house)

Here are some photos of the tank just before he shipped it to me:

I had some very specific requirements for the canopy.
I wanted a “false wall” built at the top of the canopy to house and hide the lighting ballasts for my Metal Halides. The tank sits against a room in my family room and I didn’t want to see any wiring or unsightly components. I also needed sufficient space from the bulbs to the water and space to work on the tank.

Thank you.

Yeah, I do have alot of coralline.
I don't scrape the back mainly becuase I don't think I could get it all off and it might look odd if I'm only able to get certain sections of it and not others.

very clean, any problems with the puffer and coral?

None thus far; he's a little guy. (Thumb size)

I was told that he likes to eat snails but that he will rarely pick at corals. I figure I can always buy more snails, besides they're already re-producing in the tank.

We shall see.

Looks so much better than the day we hauled that baby inside!!!!

Well done, that is the tank I I dream about putting in the wall between my office and my dining room. Well done!

Do you have any pics of the how you set up the Ehiems?
How do you like the 1262's?
Did you hard plumb the pumps?
Thanks
Doug

I love those puffers. I had one a while back and he nipped at a lot of the corals.
If only there was a way to ensure that a fish was reef safe.
Tank looks great.

awesome job but why is it listed as 4,800.................nevermind I see you are being tricky ;) good way to get noticed! LOL
Very clever. I love the plumbing and wiring you did it looks very clean and well planned.
Chris

I see you didn't drill for a closed loop any reason why.I am looking to do the same tank size except mine will be 96x30x24.I am still waiting for a price quote from a local tank builder.I was going to get a 10 ft x 24 x 24 but its a tank made in china and there is no warrenty so I decided against it.The tank was $2000 wich wasn't to pricy for a 400 gal tank but no warrenty on a tank of that size if it leaks or cracks it will cause more damage than its worth.

Congrats Eric, it looks fabulous.

My corals and clam seem very happy. I'm going to want a frag of that clam soon. J/k.

I think that your puffer isn't a puffer. I don't know if the guy charged you for a valentini puffer, but it looks more like a saddled (mimic) filefish, which is what I have.

See the differences.
