4 Chamber Clownfish Tank Breeding Project

it was the bud light for sure!

looks great,i have a guy by me that builds frag tanks. im gonna look him up and see if he can build me one of these

If you have room, the next thing I would do is install a union on that so you can take it apart if you ever have to pull the tank out. Looking good though

Yes when going hard plumbing union connectors are nice so you can disconnect and re work things or move stuff if needed

I was going to tell you but had a brain fart on the proper name of the fitting Lol...

Lol. It's ok. I appreciate your help. How about my pump configuration? Any suggested changes?

I assume the big bulge in the middle is a check valve. I'd get rid of it. Design the sump to be able to handle any drain down from the tanks.

Check valves always fail. They most likely fail when you need them most - you are away and power goes off!

Hi Lou. I just had one of these made for myself, and I appreciate your photo thread, it's a very nice design. I opted to have the dividers solid (no slots) and made 1/4 shorter than the top in the event one drain plugs, it will flow over to the others before it floods my floor.

I also had it made a bit smaller than yours. Mine is 12 X 12 X 48 and each cube is 12 x 12 x 12 or just over 7 gallons. Small for a breeding pair of Melanopus, but perfect for Ocellaris, Bicinctus, Percula, and other smaller adult clowns.

I am thinking about a 20L or a 40B for a sump since I have a a bunch of each.

Thanks for the topic! Let me see your finished plumbing once you are completed, if you don't mind.

Setup looks cool, Wondering why you have 4 overflows and slots in the tanks, doesnt that defeat the purpose of all four overflows???

Thank you for the input. In post #11 Jaypilot summed it up well and said, "Since the over flows are already in place I would absolutely use them all. First you can get a little better water flow but secondly you have alot of redundancy and chances of clogging or over filling you tank would almost be impossible."

Wish I had seen this earlier! I'm actually the guy who purchase "Eriks" tank made by Advanced acrylics. My plumbing came with it :). Great little pieces of equipment. A STEAL second hand for 125 bucks with stand and plumbing. I do however has ball valves on the return as well- I figured it was incase u let them
Hatch in the tank and shut it down on hatch night or maybe if u need to treat just that pair.....Look forward to hearing of your success.

You got an amazing deal. You should start a thread too and have a little friendly competition :)
