4" Filter Socks (MD41111)... how long are they?

Probably a silly question, but I'm in the process of building a sump, and I was going to use filter socks for the first time. Not sure what height to place the holder. And it's probably not suppose to be suspended above the bottom of the tank right? I'm assuming it's OK to have some of it laying on the bottom of the sump, as long as it's not interfering with anything?

Hi robojet,

Thank you for your inquiry, normally the socks are hung about middway in the sump, so you have at least 60% of the sock above the water line and 40% below. The 4 inch filter sock measures 11 inches in length. You can click here to see how the filter socks are placed in our sumps. Please be sure to pre-rinse the filter sock before using.
