my 40b tank

my 40b tank

Tank is 1.5 years old.

Some notable inhabitants:

RBTA
Maxima Clam
non-photo gorgies.
duncans, dendros
favias, xenias, gps's (all not attached to main rockwork)
toadstool leather with green polyps
a few sps colonies
frogspawn, bubble, and hammer corals
acans, ricordeas, zoos, button polyps
lobo brain, wells brain, symphilia
montis encrusting and plating
pink goniopora
clownfish. royal gramma, yellowtail damsel, pistol shrimp, cleaner shrimp, brittle star, bagaii cardinal, copperband (please no tang police comments. he is happy, eating, fat and foraging and is the most competitive for food in this tank. Have never bothered any corals or inverts, except for feather dusters.)
Most of these inhabitants have been in the tank for about a year.

20 gallon sump, mag 5 return, reef octopus 1000sss skimmer, heater and chiller, 2 * 250 watt aqua medic hanging MH HQI lights with elec ballast /w 14k phoenix bulbs, 2 * mp40W's synced. kalkwasser nightly drips, magnesium supplements and the occasional B-ionic 2 part when the need is there.

I feed broad spectrum feed rods food, but target feed gonis and gorgonians live phyto, oyster feast and reef pearls and squished cyclopeeze juice.

I love this little world in my home.

Hey guys and girls, Im planning out my 40b build as we speak. My thoughts were to do a penninsula style aio tank with a display fuge. I was going to have mangroves, some kind of anemone and sexy shrimp. I havent seen an aio 40b so I figured this would best place to ask. Does anyone have one? Does anyone have any comments or concerns in this idea?

Thanks!

very nice tank, are you still using the 6 t5 light? and how high are they?

Yes still using the T-5, I ran a 250w MH for 2 weeks but went back to the T-5. I really liked the MH 14k look. It just wasn't enough light to cover the whole tank. I have the T-5 at 7" above the water now.

Spot reserved for mine! Should have up and running in 2 weeks or less!

40 breeder (of course)
Black pine stand
2x maxspect mazarra leds
BM NAC 7
Sicce syncra 3.0 return
Eheim-jager 200 watt heater
Eshopps es-rs 100 sump
Reef octopus overflow
Ecotech mp10es

This is my 40b. I can't keep track but there are close to 40 anemones in the tank now. They fill the tank out so you can't see the rock during the day.

How come all the tanks I see are all set up the same? Don't get me wrong I love them all. But they are all set up that you can only see one long side and a 40 breeder isn't a huge tank. So I have started a build with my son on a paninaula tank and its drilled with a beananimal/calfo overflow system. I just think that being able to see it from all sides would maximize space. I really like to see what everyone is doing! Great job!

That's actually false. Having a peninsula would make you put the rock in the middle so the fish can swim on the sides. Whereas, when you have the tank setup like the majority of the tanks on here you can put the rocks near the back and maximize space in the front, making it 'A LOT' more open. Hence, why you see these 40's setup how they are! lol I never was a fan of peninsulas for this reason..;) Only way I would try one would be with a VERY wide tank.
