A few quick updates. We had our second daughter. She's wonderful, but hopefully the tank doesn't take a minor turn for the worse like with #1...

On a different note, I got a new toy. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have time to use it as much as I'd like to for a few months -_- Here are a few quick pics I snapped with it.

Congrats on your 2nd girl. And nice photography. Now that you got a new toy, we expect a load more photos! :D

I have enjoyed your progression shots, especially the pink birdsnest color transformation... What would you attribute to getting that hot pink color from that coral? I mean it wasn't a bad color in your earlier pics, but definitely looks stunning now..... My pink birds could use a lift!

Tell me about it! Its the only coral in my tank that I'm completely satisfied with if that makes you feel any better. Looking back at my tank pre-crash, it was that same vibrant pink color. My wife gives me grief about my colors all the time, but even she admits that the Bnest looks good. She went as far to suggest that perhaps I should only keep birdsnests! For what its worth, it is an ORA pink birdsnest.

dude, gorgeous child, gorgeous pics, keep it up! Make time for your tank! Everyone needs a hobby!

Thanks! You're far too kind! I can usually still make time for weekly water changes, but anything beyond that usually gets me endless mad stares. Here's hoping keeping my hands out of the tank lets things settle in.

Thanks, she's a handful so far. The problem with the new lens is finding time to process the pictures. I secreted myself off to the basement to shoot some pictures last night, but I do not know when I'll have time to process them. It takes a long time to go through 1-200 pictures to find the ones that I like and then choose which of those I like well enough to post. After that, I have to upload them to photobucket and make the actual RC post! Its making me tired just thinking about all of it...

Nice job, I love the rock work.

I actually shuffled some pieces around. Perhaps its time for another FTS! I'm still not sure how much I like the rearrangement though...

The pictures I took last night were of my fish. My blurry, blurry fish... Here are a few of the shots that turned out reasonably well.

I went to the fish store with my oldest and she was memorized by the diamond back. It's certainly hard to say no to that!

Originally I wasn't going to post this FTS because I wasn't quite happy with the way it turned out. However, I'm bored out of my mind sitting in my garage running a yard sale, so here it is...

I have a few more growth comparison shots, but that will have to wait for when I'm not on my phone.

Not much has changed in the last few months. I had to replace the fans on my sunpower because they rusted out. The new ones went in easier than I thought, so that was a pleasant surprise. When I ordered the fans I went ahead and got some new bulbs. I think I set them up like this:

F
Kz 10k
Kz super blue
Kz 10k
Kz Fiji purple
Kz super blue
Kz 10k

I'm thinking of removing one super blue and replacing it with another Fiji purple. I miss having one right above my birds nest!

I removed all montis but my purple cap from the tank again. They polyp extension went way down and my sunburst was starting to lose some tissue. Fortunately, most of them are on one rock so I can remove for treatment pretty easy. I did a long dip in a high conc. coral rx mix and then put them in my frag tank. Nothing came off the frags that I could see. Polyp extension has been great, so I moved most of them back into the main tank.

I'm not 100% convinced it was a pest. It started a little after my baby was born, so it may be a nutrient issue. The tank was fed anything for3-4 days and things got a little too clean... We'll see I guess.

Sent from my iPhone so forgive the errors..
