Okay here's an update! I know I still don't have any glue, but I don't know when I'll get out to get some...

My jaw fish finally opened up a bit, they both live in this hole...

Damn, Eric! Your tank looks great. I hope I can get my aquascaping to look half that good. Looks like the snails want to share the burrow with the jaws. :)

Any problems between the jaws and the YW goby yet?

Please keep up the pics. I know I'm interested!

Thanks bro! It's pretty funny watching the jawfish get mad at the snails! As for the YW goby, I think there must have been a problem because the YW is MIA for over a week now... Oh well guess it just wasn't meant to be. I only plan on one more fish, a wrasse; still trying to decide between the Lineatus and the Laboutei Fairy Wrasse. Of course once I decide, then I still need to find the money for it. ;)

Sorry to hear about the YWG. I hope it's just on a hunger strike and it'll turn up.

Ooo. Nice looking wrasses. How active are they? That is, are they going to move around so much that they will scare some of the more passive fishes? How do you plan on handling feeding, since the wrasses are supposed to be such hogs?

Sorry, but I've been pondering stocking very similar to what you're doing and I've wondered if I can get a wrasse into the mix or if it'll be too boisterous.

Thanks!

Andy

Thanks Andy,

I'm hoping to keep the wrasse stuffed with food so everyone else can get some. Since they max out (depending on species) at either 3-4 and 4-5 inches I'm hoping that it will create just enough motion to keep me satisfied without causing too much turmoil in the tank. If anyone has any experience with these and feel it would be a bad idea, please let me know your thoughts.

Not sure if anyone still looks at this but here's an update:

The dosing pump, this is the best thing I've ever done and would encourage anyone to go this simple route! Very easy to set up and w/in a week my tank is maintaining Ca levels at 400 and Alk at 10.4 DKH without having to dose kalkwasser or worry about my evap rate or Ph. I love it!

I just did :)

Sounds great - you're just dosing B-Ionic, right? Are you still using the float valve setup for topoff water? I assume with the dosing pump in place you took out the inline DIY kalk reactor?

Thanks Larry. :) Yes just B-Ionic for now, I'll see how much I'm going through before I decide if I'm going to start to make my own or just continue to buy the B-Ionic. I'm still using the float valve for top off, I just have it going directly to the bucket and yes I've taken the inline DIY Kalk reactor out. Figure there's no reason to use the kalk, this way I don't need to worry about my Mg levels dropping. :)

Hmm, I've got an old Vario lying around - maybe I'll hook that up... How did you decide on the dosing rate of the B-Ionic?

I'm just setting the dosing rate based on the B-Ionic instructions and then testing regularly to find out my consuption rate and then make adjustments to the dosing from there...

Look, you're famous:

Not sure I'd say famous, but Wow, that's pretty cool!!! Thanks for pointing that out! :)

I guess it's time for an update again...

I've added 3 new frags,
a small green A. yongei (yes Zach I went ahead and added it. )
a tiny purple A. sp (still trying to ID)
and a small forest green w/ turquoise tips A. sp (also trying to ID)

I'm placing an order with ReeferMadness either today or tomorrow (their website has conflicting dates of when they open) and then I should be done stocking (corals) and just one last fish to go (maybe)... I'll get some more pics either tonight, or after the reefermadness order get's here.

Very nice tank, nice job with the loop, the flow must be pretty intense in there. Also nice job loading it with snails and a like. Keep posting pics.

It varies depending on where the cycle is... When it's hitting the blue mille it's pretty intense, but the mille doesn't get anything when the flow is on the other side of the tank. It's pretty cool to see it cycle around the tank. :)
