40 Gallon Custom Setup

I'll try to post some pics tonight! I've got the water in, the salt mixed, the sand bed 1-2 inches thick, and most of the sand cloud settled... I need to go through my rock that's been cooking for the last 3 months and see what I want to use. So I might have rock in there as soon as tonight as well.

Stay tuned...

calvin415, just had to send my quiet5000 back. ceramic shaft was broken. great job on the tank. i think you offically crammed everything you could under the tank. nice job.

Thanks peecook, I'm thinking of pulling my chiller out of the stand though, just not enough circulation for it with the doors on. My Q1 5000 is still clicking too much... I'll probably call the retailer today or tomorrow to start that ball rolling...

Anything think if I move the chiller out, what I should/could put in it's place? CA Reactor? 2 part CA/Alk with dosing pump? Bigger Kalk Reactor? Refugium? Leave it empty?

Excellent I really appreciate it! I am at work and supposed to be productive but instead as usual I am on RC, planning out my aquarium set up ... they are going to fire me! :|

Ditto. :)

Thanks CTS!

As promised here's some current shots:

Don't mind the piece of PVC sitting there... I plugged the CL drain with it when I filled it with sand so I didn't get sand going through the pump. Haven't taken it out yet...

Eric ... thanks for all your input man ... totally helped! I'll mail you if I have any more questions, right now I'm totally stressin trying to create a sump refugium design! Sigh *

By the way the tank looks AWESOME!

Thanks guys...

I added some rock tonight as well... I'm not sure what to think yet. I've spend the last hour trying different ideas and maybe I just have the wrong rocks... Let me know what you think.

I like the rock myself. Considering the shape of the tank, you pretty much have to make the rock go upwards a bit. That's what you did, and I think it's great! Man, you have no idea how much drool I have expelled looking at your setup. :hmm3: :hmm4: :crazy1:

(sorry once I start with the faces... I keep going)

I like the rock, the little arch/bridge thing you have going looks cool.

Thanks Punisher! Hopefully this layout will grow on me... I've got one more really large piece of rock I can try to break up to help fill in where it looks bare.

LOL!!! Thanks Omidon4! I appreciate the comment and your opinion. Sometimes no matter what you do, it just doesn't look right but everyone else loves it. :)

That piece of tonga is ruining it for me, you know the one that looks most like a branch ... I too am super picky of aquascaping but the rocks themselves are very nice! By the way I wanted to thank you for your help again Eric.

Thanks Pimp! Keep the dream going and you'll get there bro!

chocolateblnt, do you mean the piece of tonga you can see in pic 2 and 3 above? There are other pieces in there, but I agree this one looks out of place... Guess I'll have to work on that. :)

Here's some more shots stepping back...

This one makes the walls look green (they are not) so just focus on the tank. :)
