I live in Barboursville
The tank is 72" X 48" X 27"
I still have a few projects that I need to complete before I start settin everything up. I am changing my 100 amp main panel to a 200 amp panel. I hope to have that done within 2 weeks. I already ran 3 20 amp outlets and will just have to wire them in to the new panel.
I am thinking about putting a sink where the skimmer is setting in the pics. I have water supply and drain line right on the other side of that wall. I think it is a wise move putting it in.

I plan on going BB with high flow. If I think later I need to add a DSB I will do so in a display refugium.
Anyone of you know what sand alternative people are using these days since Southdown is no longer?
I have about a 6" Southdown DSB in my 180.

I am sure the MR 6 can keep up with this system. I plan on at least 500lbs of live rock and this skimmer for filtration. I might use some socks not sure yet.

Its been awhile since I updated my build so I thought I would do so.
The tank has been sitting on the stand for about a month now and I just started plumbing everything this week. I hope to have all the plumbing done by Sunday. I thought I would have had this all set up and running by now but I guess that was wishful thinking.
After everything is plumbed and I hang my lights it should be all systems go. That is if I can convince the wife that we really need to buy 500 to 600 lbs of rock.
I will post some new pics once the plumbing is done.

I still am not sure yet. I have been looking around for a couple months now and with it being a couple thousand $'s, the quality of the rock and freshness of the rock is very important to me. I do not really want to spend $3 or $4/lb for what I consider base rock.
I have talked to someone local about a large rock purchase and would really like to by locally if at all possible.
If I can not arrange that I will definately be looking at $$$$$'s for shipping cost.
Any suggestions?

I assume you will still be looking for more rock even after the purchase of the 150 lbs. It's too bad that Marshall Islands and Tonga rock is no longer coming in. I'm not sure what the next nicest rock would be. The area LFS had some nice looking rock the other day that they were calling Indio Live Rock. They are supposed to start keeping a supply of it.
Yeah I will be buying more rock soon.

Only thing is now I cant purchase a large amount and cycle the tank with it. I will just have to cure it in some tubs first. Not really what I was wanting to do but nothing ever goes as planned with me. At least now I only have to buy 350lbs instead of 500lbs.

Too bad you couldn't find some of the Dry Pukani rock that BulkReefSupply and Marco used to sell. Incredible shapes and MUCH cheaper than more any other LR available. I have 25 lbs or Pukani curing. The savings could of been huge when your talking about over 300 lbs. LOL

What are you going to be using for ventilation? I imagine there will be a lot of evaporation going on...
looks great the only question I have is.....the opening in the wall is considerably higher than the height of the tank.....are you going to close that off or is that like that for a reason? if you mentioned it in your thread I missed it and I am sorry (it's the adult ADHD kicking in.....LOL)
I'm not sure if I mentioned it either, I have been so busy lately I forgot where my house was the other day. LOL Dont feel bad!
I made the opening bigger and plan to add a wood panel that will be hinged, that way I can lift it up and access the front of the tank for maintance.
Now that the closed loop plumbing is done there is not as much room their as I had hoped. But at least I can still fit through it enough to reach into the tank.
The tank is 27" deep and it is all I can do to reach the bottom anyways. And I am 6'4". I can only amagine how hard it would have been to reach the front of the tank had I not done it that way.
