400W 20k 24' deep, ok for crocea?

Im in the market for a new MH bulb and i hear that 20k's dont have the intensity normaly to keep shallow water clams such as croceas. If i have 400w over a tank that is 24" deep, will that be enough light for it?

I would say yes, especially if it's up in the rocks somewhere.

I was told my 250MH would be enough and mine has been fine with that.

I have had a Maxima under 250w, 24" deep on the sand bed for months. Looks very happy, though the bulb is a 10K

you might want to check out the 14k bulbs. they are not quite as blue as the 20k's and most have a better light output. i had a 20k bulb on my tank and i thought i liked it. now that i changed it out for a 10k, i realize i didnt like it that much. too blue. the hamilton 10k is just right IMO.

My 400w, 20k xm's have done well for Crocea (18 mth). Bulbs were changed at 9-10 mths.
