Forgot my camera today but I got my new 400W Solaris. I kept the old 250 on the tank as well and I love it, no shadows in the rear now. Best lighting system I have ever owned. The new one is way brighter. I will post pics tomorrow.

how much brighter is it with just the H4? It's going to be naturally brighter if you have two units on. I'm going to order the H4 in a couple months from now.

24" Wide, Pat says the H4 is 30% brighter then the H2. Can't tell in pic but when looking at tank in person the back is not as bright.

I will take a pic with h4 only but I will have to remove the h2 and center the H4 for accurate results. Will try to get that in a few days.

I didn't see this psoting- how deep is your tank? I will be using a 48- as the cabinet it is in allows only 59". The overflow on one side takes up 6". So, overall, I have 53" of tank- what do you think? Will this be enough coverage??

Retail about $7200. Was one of the first to own the original Solaris. They started a waiting list for me about 5 months before they came out. I prefer them to MH. I might change my lights to H4 on a new 490 corner I will be setting up at home.

Hey SWSaltwater I'm all for the H4, Awesome light. One question doe the fixture look well built? Is it true you dont need a chiller with the H4? Whats the temp on your tank?

Very well built. No heat transfer to water so assuming no other heat sources arise you will need no chiller. House temp under 78, no mag drives, etc.....

WOW...I thought I was a Reefcrack head!!!Those are some sweet lights wish I could afford them.Maybe when the price comes WAY down.Or hit the lottery.Oh wait ...I dont play the lottery so scratch that idea.

I asked in another thread. Not sure if you are watching that one.

How long have you had the H4? I've been told that there is still reservation concerning whether the additional heat of this unit has been fully tweeked.

They only started shipping this week as far as I know. Not sure if any testers had em long term though. Maybe Pat will make me a tester for the next round ;)

I do notice the ballast have to have better ventilation. I am going to mount a fan to move more air near them. It does run hotter then the H2 but Pat told me the unit is able to withstand much higher heat to offset it. Unit is good to around 130 F with no damage as I recall. Still no heat to the water, all is localized to the out vent.
