Very interested to see how your tank does with the t5s. I'm in the process of adding two t5's to supplement my radion gen2 on my 24" tank.
Hi Matt,
Awesome tank BTW. Im due to change my bulbs and was wondering how do you like your combo. 3b+, 2C+ and an actinic sounds fun. I always used 4 b+ 1 P+ and a C+ or GE6500.
How blue is it?
Thanks
Thanks. The pics that I just posted were actually x3 C+ and x3 B+ and are very true to life in color. I changed the combo about a week ago. The x3C+ x2B+ and x1 actinic was OK; it wasn't too blue IMO. I was a little worried about low PAR though so I swapped in the extra C+ bulb. Personally, I don't like the P+ or fiji pink bulbs. They are too pink and give the corals a washed over look. I like a crisp blue with some white so the x3 C+ x3B+ works really well for me. It the C+ does as a tiny bit of pink to help with the red/green colors though. I would recommend the combo if you are looking to try something different.
Nice tank.
Where did you get the clam sized plates? I could use a few.
I feel like 3 C+ would be too white. Im going to buy my regular combo and an extra C+. Ill try 4B+ and 2C+. If It is too blue I will order an extra C+ and try 3/3. Would you be able to take a picture as close as possible to the real thing?
Thanks again.
Also, was shadowing the only reason for switching to T5? Do you feel like it is doing a better job?
I owned Ai sols before but didn't like it at all, ended up buying the same fixture I sold to get the Leds.
I came across a really good deal on 2 AI hydras first Gen this week, and I am not sure if I should try it or not.
What is your honest opinion about LEDs vs T5?
They are from The alternative Reef. I think I got them on eBay actually.Nice tank.

Yeah they are basically the same thing. Really useful little things and not expensive at all.Not trying to speak out of turn but Champion Lighting has some.

Thanks!Beautiful tank!!!
Looking extremely well Matt. You should be proud of your tank my friend.![]()
Thanks Sahin! I am really enjoying how things are going with this tank. Now if I could just get the guts to try this interceptor treatment... it's more that I am lazy and don't want to move all my hermits and my shrimp to another tank while I do the treatment. I am also worried I'll do it wrong and nuke the tank lol.
No problem! Thanks for your reply Matt.
So your shrimp survived? Do you think that the amount you used way too weak? I don't mind all my pods dying. I have so many that it would be nice to be able to control the kinds that I have. I have these huge ones with black lines running down their backs that I don't really care for. I'll probably order a bag of pods to seed my tank once the treatment is done. Thanks for sharing your experience with it.I treated for redbugs before, and apart from the issue of Hermits and Shrimps, its not a big deal.
Here is my experience of it:
1. I used Interceptor Spectrum.
2. I treated twice.
3. I left my hermits and Fireshrimp in. Couldn't catch shrimp and didn't want to risk redbugs being on the hermit shells etc.
4. I carried out a 10% w/c and change of GAC after 12 hours.
5. After 1st treatment, all Redbugs died/disappeared.
6. Shrimp was fine through 1st treatment. Hermits became almost motionless/lifeless at 12 hours, so I removed them and put them in a small container with fresh saltwater.
7. A few hours after being in the container, the hermits started to move around.
8. Rest of tank was fine; but all pods died off.
9. Tank did get a bloom of film algae.
I repeated the same the following week. Hermits and Shrimp were fine.
However, I think its probably due to the ingredients used to make the tablet palatable for dogs (beef flavour etc) but I didn't get a massive film algae bloom that would require the glass to be cleaned only after a few hours of light being switched on. However, it cleared up I recall about approx. two weeks after the 2nd treatment.
I have read of a couple other reports of the increase in nutrients, so it wasn't something totally isolated to my tank.
But, all in all, it was an easy thing to do.
