40g SPS

very nice
Thanks!

Hi SoCalDude,

Sorry about your burnt tips. As you already pointed out, it is a sign of aggressive use of the zeo media. I use 300ml of the zeo media on 150g net. I only use 1/3 cup of carbon. The flow through your reactor should be enough to fill a 16oz cup every 8-9 seconds. I also recommend you begin to feed a high quality food such as an oyster egg food. There is a new version of oyster eggs on Ebay. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising. Ensure that you are testing your water so you know exactly how your nutrients react to your filtration and feeding. Try to keep your phosphates at .02-.03. Nitrates at .2. Because you use the zeo media, water changes will become more important. With your over usage of the zeo media, you have stripped your water of essential elements that will need to be replaced with water changes. I know this because I have done it myself. You also will need to begin to test your potassium. Salifert is a great kit to use. I like the brightwells Potassion (dry) for my daily additions. I'm now subscribed, so feel free to ask me any questions on your use of zeo. You will also want to keep your alk lower. Aim for 7-8. Any higher and your growth will slow. You can also develop burnt tips from the combo of high alk and over usage of zeo. Good luck and happy reefing!

Warmest Regards, James
Thanks for the advice! As of the last couple of days, the PE has returned to the joe the coral I posted and the RTN has stopped. I have turned down my reactor a lot and remove a little bit of media. I will take your advice with the oyster eggs, I just thought the zeo products had everything the corals would need. I have recently ordered some coral snow, coral booster, and AA which I think should help. I have been told about the potassium, which I will start testing for in a couple of months. I had a friend test and the reading came up 390ppm, which is good. I will let you know if I have any more questions. Thanks for the your comments!

Can you also post your dosing regimen? How are you dosing your zeostart3? Are you using any GFO?
I have b-ionic 2 part set up on BRS dosers. I dose about 9ml a day of that and 1 drop of iodine per week. Water changes are 5g every 2 weeks with a tank with a total of about 35 gallons in it.

For zeovit, I am dosing:
.2ml zeostart per day into the DT a day, .1ml in the morn and .1ml at night
1 drop sponge power daily
1 drop zeofood x3 a week
3 drops phol's xtra every other day, planing on increasing once I get my larger bottle in the mail
1 drop CV every other day
2 drop zeobak x3 week into reactor

Very nice little breeder. Keep us updated please.
Thanks! It's a sorta-cube though at 24x24x16

r u still using bio pekllets? I recently lowered my amount of pellets also and its helped...your tank looks great

how tough is it to keep up with zeo? I thought about doing it, but it seems like too much work
It's isn't too bad if you plan on being in town all the time or not skipping more than a few days of dosing. I would estimate I spend about 2 min a day doing the zeovit dosing. It really isn't that bad for small tanks. The hard part is having someone else do it if you are out of town. Overall, I am ok with it for now.

My favorite tank
Thanks a lot!
