40g SPS

Matt can you post your radion program or the spectrum and brightness

Ya sure. It's this basic setup, but now instead of 50% I am down to 25%. I was having some issues with my clams not opening. I think that the upgrade to the radion gen3 was too much for them. After another week of 25%, I will up it 5% weekly to 40% and hold there for a bit and see if I can go higher.

looks great buddy! glad everything is coming along well.
i think we all obsessed with number at the begging but as the tank settles & matures we tend to sit back and enjoy more.

Revisiting this thread because your tank is awesome. :D Any chance of a video of your tank?
Thanks man. I can see what I can do about a video, though I can say that it will not be great quality lol.

I did get a new sump that i found from a local. I have a fuge LED bulb coming from coral compulsion to grow some cheato. Lets see if I can get some pods breeding and some nutrients removed without GFO.

I took my GFO off nearly a month ago, and seeing better results in my sps. Colours are getting deeper. PO4 hasn't really risen, it's staying at around 0.02-0.03ppm (though I did battle high PO4 for like a long time).

I added more rocks in the sump to help with the filtration. I think the system can process the PO4 from the foods and fish poop ok. My rocks aren't leaching anymore.

Yeah, even if the video is bad quality, it's cool. It'd be nice to see a 3 dimensional view of your tank.

Even if the cheato grows slow, I think the pods will be beneficial for our tank. Post up a shot with the sump light switched on when you get the led sump light.

nice pick up!

i had a small fuge on my last sump, but i cood not grow cheato to save my life :( other than not being able to grow it every time i did a water change it would release some of its trapped detritus which drove me crazy. looks great let us know how it works for you.

Looking great!

That Sunset Monti thing is taking up too much real estate...could be better used for some high end acros :D

True about the real estate and containment could be needed soon but it is awesome IMO. It is not common to see a colony that large in a tank! Impressive IMO.

Less is more.. time for some thinning out?

I actually disagree with this. I love mature grown in tanks and that is what I am trying to achieve in my own tank. Bonsai style trimmed small colonies that are loaded into a tank to fit as many as possible is not my personal taste. I am a fan of choosing what you like and let several grow large and fill in instead of a million smallish colonies.

I agree! Do you want to come frag it for me? :P I am always on the search for some higher end acros, but I am still a graduate student and the budget does not always allow of those choice pieces though :(

Probably, but it is so hard to frag. It doesn't come off in nice chunks. I have to dig the bone cutters into the LR to get it to come loose.

Ya, I have had this sunset monti since 2010. It has made it through some tank crashes and had been fragged dozens of times. I don't think there is anyone on the Cali Central Coast that doesn't have a piece of this! :) It is getting a bit unwieldy and I would like to have a couple more acros in the space it is taking up though. It is just so hard to manage as it just grows over everything and fast!

Great looking tank! Awesome growth! Since it seems you are successful with SPS in there, do you mine sharing what your graph looks like with us? Gen1/2 etc?

Nice tank! So you went from the g1 @80% to a g3 pro @25% ? I have the g3 pro and cant seem to get the intensity right. Could you please explain your spectrum and intensity? Thx
