40g SPS

Photo updates! I got an order from Battlecorals a couple days ago. I received PC superman, red robin, raindrops on roses milli, and pink lemonade.

PC superman. I tried to use photoshop to get the blue tips to come out more but I can't really use photoshop well. At least you all can trust the colors I get on my corals lol

Pink Lemonade, very fuzzy. It's always been one of my favorite corals. I was sad when I lost my colony in my 60g - very happy to have it again.

Raindrops on roses milli - I think this one is going to fight with me to color up.

Looking great buddy! Loving your results with this setup.

Are you still running a refugium? If so, which kind of algae are you growing in there? How long has the refugium been running? Thanks.

Yeah, I'm still running a fuge. You want a top-down shot of my chaeto?

Yes please, just to see what kind of growth and what it sort of looks like in the fuge area. Doesnt have to be exact top down shot, slightly angled is fine. Thanks in advance. :)

Love the tank mate. Very impressive. How are you finding the Gyre? I have a XF130 on the way for my cube. Looking forward to seeing it in action.

Its coming along real nice Matt great job
Thanks man! It's been a long time coming with my alk issues and whatnot. The tank is on cruise control and I am just watching things grow. I am only having issues with the Joe the Coral; what was once the largest colony in the tank is now a stub. I had to emergency frag the largest portion of the colony at the base as the STN was just slowly spreading. Not really sure why.

Awesome job. How do you feel about the Gyro? Can you hear it?
After a few months I still really like the gyre. I never have to put it over 50% to get the flow I want. I never hear it either, even at 100%. I am very happy with it. I just wish Maxspect would hurry up and get the apex connection for it so I can do feed mode with the gyre when my Apex auto feeder is on.

Maybe flow since it was getting bigger.

That's what I thought. It may have been the issue that started the RTN. At first the tissue in an effected area of the coral just turned brown and got really soft (not like regular STN or RTN where the tissue just falls off, this time the tissue actually turned brown and got soft before falling off) and sloughed off the coral. After that, the area never healed and it very slowly continued. The Joe the Coral has not really recovered since the then. I am thinking it was maybe flow and/or a bacterial infection. Who knows though.

The gyre is awesome. I get a lot of flow from just the one unit as opposed to two mp10s. It's very quite; I don't have to run the gyre over 40% to get the flow I want. After 4 months I am still very impressed.

I replaced the AquaMaxx CO-1 with a SCA-301 (same as the BM NAC 3.5). The aquamaxx is a great skimmer, but it is too much skimmer for me. I wanted to go with a smaller skimmer this time, and the price was right too! So far the SCA-301 is doing an OK job. I have a cup that has about a 1/4'' of dark pee colored skimmate after only 3 days. It is still breaking in but so far so good.

I'm running the same on my 40B for 10 months now. IMO great skimmer!
This is just 2 days worth, sitting next to my filter sock.
