410 gal in wall build SW Florida

Hey Steve! Hell of a nice build you got there! I don't want to highjack you thread but your tank looks frighteningly similiar to mine! Although, I am sure you spent alot more $$$$ on freight. I live about 90 minutes from Coast to Coast so I went and picked mine up! Best of luck with your tank, mine has been bullet proof!

Awesome, that looks great.

Just enjoyed reading this thread.
Build is fantastic, Tank is fantastic but the pictures are absolutely awesome.
As my tank is very young I have borrowed your original light schedule as I have Gen 1 Radions over my Elos 120.
Are you doing much adjustment to your photo before posting.
Fantastic build

Fantastic build

I shoot all my images in RAW so there is some post processing done. I just try and keep the colors as close to what they actually look like as possible.

I just want to say very nice build. And wht a joy to watch a system come to live. one note, a splash guard for the vortech drivers would be something that can save you a lot of trouble.

I am not sure I understand what you are saying. I have had the Vortechs for over three years with no trouble. Is there something I need to be aware of?

I am hoping to get some new pics soon, just haven't had time. I am actually thinking about breaking it all down. I am working so much I just don't have the time to keep up with it. We'll see....

Steve what a great build. No updates on your tank? Im setting up a tank now and only wish I had a fish room :-(

They are a lot of work and maintenance is too expensive plus if you don't do it yourself it won't flourish :-(

Hey Steve,

First off, thanks for being so helpful with my messages about the actuators over the last couple of months!

I run my own business and it gets extremely busy from May to October. So busy, that I have hardly any time for anything else but just staying on top of it. In the past, my tanks would suffer during that period to the point and they ended up becoming an eyesore. I eventually let it go, and was happy for awhile. When I moved to my new home two years ago, I always envisioned a large reef in the family room. I started the project in January of this year and worked on it until May when it slowed to a crawl again. I fully anticipate it will reach full speed in November again. At least I have water in it now.

My company is even busier this year, and those months will be even harder to do maintenance going forward. As I started my planning, I knew I was going to need outside help during that period at a minimum. My local LFS knows my situation and has recommended two companies who have the skill and knowledge to take it over for me during that time. I actually anticipate they will make it better then I can with their skill set, and I will learn more from them. At least, it will leave me a much smaller task of just enjoying it as a hobby, instead of a second part time job. Maybe you have someone in your area that can take it on part time? They might even make it better then it is now? You might enjoy it even more then you did earlier in its history.

I remember after reading one of my fish books from years ago, not sure who, maybe Sprung or Tullock. They recommended hiring a local teen/kid in the neighborhood for cleaning glass etc. Teaching them what to do, and spreading the hobby on to them. Takes some of the burden off you.

Cheers,
J.

I decided to keep the tank and I’m glad I did. It is doing wonderfully. I lost my hosting service so a lot of my original pics are gone. I would like to post pics of the tank now I just need to figure out how.

Only one of those pictures worked, but it is very pretty!

I know that it might be a pain, but if you can get it worked out, seeing some of the build pictures would be awesome, or at least tank and filtration, lighting and plumbing details. They are all missing from the beginning of the thread now.

So glad that you decided to keep it!!!
