410 gal in wall build SW Florida

hey Steve, just came across your build, very nice tank! I noticed in your equipment room you have a Ca reactor, and a Kalk stirrer, I also noticed you had a calendar for a dosing pump. I am caring for SPS for the first time, with a ~125g tank. I am debating getting a ca reactor, or stick with dosing. What are your thoughts, and if i may ask a naive question in how do you use a kalk and ca reactor at the same time?

I use the Kalk for my top off water. I only top off at night from just before lights out to just after the lights come on. By doing this it helps to balance my ph. The ca reactor helps to maintain the calcium levels in the tank but does keep the ph on the low end. By running both it really seems to help the ph balance.

Hi Steve... How's the tank looking these days?

One member in our local reef club its selling his Gen 2 Radions for a great price. I'm thinking on buying them but first I wanted to ask your opinion about them.

I'll be using three of them over a 75 gallon rimless tank. 48x18x21.

There are advantages and disadvantages to the Radions. I can't say I am completely happy with them but I do have the gen ones. I am finely getting the colors on my corals to come out but it has taken forever. The growth has been okay but nothing great.

The up side is that they put out very little heat and don't use near the energy halides do. My electric bill is already outrageous I can't imagine what it would be if I had halides.

Thanks for your reply.

I decided not to replace my halides. I also have learned that gen 1 and 2 aren't completely full spectrum. Gen 2 pro and newer versions are.

You can send in your Radions and get them upgraded. I recently sent in two Gen 1's and had them converted to Gen 3's. I did not need to upgrade them to Gen 3 Pro's.

Here are a few pics of the completed trim out and location of the tank.

Very impressive tank.

I am planning to setup a tank almost the same size, do you mind letting me know who made the tank and the cost?
