It's been one year since I had to tear down and replace my reef. For those that don't know, the seams on my old tank were failing and I had to start again. After the switch , I lost all of my sps and hard corals to what appears to be a heavy metal contamination from a pump. At least that's the best explanation I have been able to come up with. So it's been a long road back.
My new tank is of the same dimensions, but I have two overflows now instead of one center overflow. I like this a lot more and the aquascape is a lot more open. Here is my latest vid.

Paul, glad to see an update, Your tank is some big inspiration for my 'someday' tank. I do like the aquascape better as well. Looking forward to additional updates as you progress.

Thanks. I have to confess lack of patience waiting for tiny frags to grow back into something like the mature colonies I used to have. They still have a long way to go. But after the trauma of the crash, I have definitely been enjoying myself restocking and changing my setup. I'm about to redo my sump and reorganize the whole system in the basement. Never a lack of things to do in this hobby!

I have always adored this set-up, both the tank and the wonderful sunroom setting. Beauty! Naturally lit tanks have always been my favourite. Thx so much for updating us on your continued progress and success.

Yup I just got them a few weeks ago. Took a while before I got them to eat but they are doing well now. I'm going to get a few more along with some evansi anthias.

Love your tank, I couldn't believe it when I saw what happened to the previous one as I have followed your tank forever it seems. Glad to see things coming along nicely!

Are they male Tukas? Think I spied some evansi in there already. Tank looks really nice; I'm always envious of the extra front to back depth available in a custom tank.

Great tank .. really like it. I have a display tank in my main entry. Skylights above and our home is a contemporary design, with pretty much a wall of windows. Thus far, never had an issue related to algae, but like you, everyone asks me about that.

I was just re watching videos of the old setup a few days ago and wondered how the system was doing. Guess now I know and am very happy you continued and didn't give up. Heartbreaking when you have so many nice colonies that have endured for so long only to loose some when you have a better plan in place. In time you be right back to the level of the old display although I must say the tank already looks amazing. Any tips on the tukas, evansi and ritteri and old? I have tried all three without success and wonder if you could elaborate on your tricks to success?

All of the anthias refused to eat until I tried frozen cyclops. They took to that at once. Then I I mixed it with mysis. Now they eat everything. The evansi were harder than the tukas. They would eat only the cyclops for a few weeks. Now they also eat everything.
I think success with magnificas has a lot to do with good flow and finding just the right spot for them. High light and strong flow.

It's funny Paul, never had any issues getting Anthias to eat...

Normally won't take flakes and pellets are first, but any frozen meaty foods they seemed to take right to...

I like your arch as well. The anemone looks great. Wonderful comeback. We lived in Boston for 10 years...I really appreciate your accent ;)
