Thanks! Day 2 with them seems to be going fine. They've eaten everything I've tossed at them so far They are living in a 100 gal. Rubbermaid trough for now. I'm using a makeshift eggcrate algae scrubber as filtration in there and they've taken up residence under the eggcrate. Gives me an excuse to harvest the algae more often. :)

I have some new photos up at the website: http://65.102.221.68/remodel.html

But, as I finally have some tank build photos, I'll post some here. The electrician has roughed in the electrical for the fish room.

I really hate to have a plug and no where to plug it into. :)

I STILL don't know when the tank will be here. :( It's really holding up the rest of the house at the moment. Grr.

As far as the rest of the house goes, it's all going really well. The masons are held up at another job, but I think they're planning to start laying brick tomorrow. The tile guy is supposed to start building the basin for the downstairs shower, maybe tomorrow on that as well.

Otherwise, it's kind of sad. We've just about run out of things for most of the carpenters to do, so about half the crew is being pulled out to start working on another project. I'm really glad that we're to that point, but it's sad to see them go. It's going to be awfully quiet over there in the morning from now on. I think from now on the majority of the work is going to subcontractors.

That's going to be the shower in that bathroom. They already have the glass pieces and they are framing it up to fit them. That shower needs a deep basin because it draws water from the basin through a closed-loop, past and in-line heater, and then out the shower nozzle so that you don't use as much water and so that it's always the temperature you want it.

Well, I found out why the tank's so very late today. The tank builders went out of business. :( So, now we're scrambling to get someone else. If they had just told us, we could have found someone else months ago, but they lied to us and strung us along. Sigh.

Sorry, tanya72806. Grr.

Fortunately, my install people are taking the attitude that the deposit money was theirs and not mine at this point, but I don't want them to have to eat the loss, either. They did put the deposit on a credit card, so they may have some recourse. (tanya--Did you put yours on the CC?) I wonder how long ago they knew they were going out of business. Only a week ago they said that the glass was in the process of being milled. Grr. My install guys had to finally Google the tank builders' neighbors and call them to find out what was going on.

They have a few leads on new people including a local guy who would build it on-site. We'll see. If I went with acrylic, I could get a tank much quicker, but I'm leary of going with acrylic 'cause I'm really pretty bad at scratching things. It would be a lot lighter, too. Sigh.

haha thats funny, we have a local company that makes a version that looks just like that to the T.

Glad to hear atleast the house is moving forwards still!

Thanks! We had a big meeting today regarding the bathroom. For one thing, the bathtub for that room just showed up. I think we're just going to leave 3/4" of leeway and start building the rest of the room. 3/4" is a lot of room (at least to this crew) and is easy enough to shim later when the tank goes in. There aren't a whole lot of critical measurements on that part of the room other than the tank, anyway, because of the tank maintenance deck that surrounds the tub.

Oh man - that sucks! I hadn't checked out your thread in a little while...I was hoping to see some glass! Best of luck Andy.

Sigh. I can't even tell you how cool it is that there's no warning that your box is getting full. It's all cleared out now. Sorry.

Thanks, Mike! Believe me, I'm pretty much sick with this situation. But, you know, it'll probably work out fine.

Ken--This is a drawing from way early in the process. Surprisingly, it's not too far off despite the fact that it's probably nearing a year old and has a long fight with the city under its belt.

A very large number of photos in the update today. Stace asked me to go through and document all of the walls and ceilings as possible before the insulation and dry wall people come in. That way, we'll know where things are in case we need to find something later.
