46 gallon display pictures

Hey all just wanted to post a few pictures of my 46 gallon bowfront display. The tank has been up for about 9 months now. 45 lbs of Tonga Kaelini and 20 lbs of Marshall Islands rock were added in to form the rockwork. I used 40 lbs of the Arag-Alive Indo-Pacific blacksand for the substrate. Since the rock was purchased pre-cured from PA the cycle took about 2 and half weeks.

Equipment list: 46 gallon display, 15 gallon sump, 4x39 watt Tek-T5, ASM G1x skimmer, Tlf phosban reactor, Mag 5 return, Seio 600, Maxijet 600.

1 picture one with all the lights on (sun, aquablue, 2 blue/plus)
1 with just the blue/plus on

Looks great--one warning tho--watch that bubble coral and it's nighttime sweepers on that acro above it--i know from experience!

6-line,

Yeah at night i've been watching and they come within about an inch of the acro above it. I will problably place another flat piece of rock under it to raise it higher if the time comes.

Beautiful tank Jeff....simply excellent. I also have a 46 bow I need to get up and running! Money is holding me back though! Again, great job.

Larrytke,

The intesity T5 lights put out with the right reflectors is amazing. I've had a few sps frags I added early on bleach out because I put them too close to the lights. As you can see from the pictures most the the LPS are near the bottem or on the sides where the light doesn't seem as intense.

The tank itself is 20" deep and you can see I have 2 Crocera Clams on the substrate. I've had both these clams about 5 months and have noticed 3 new folds of white shell on each of them.

I really like the T5 because the amount of heat they put out is very negligible. In the summer I just run a 5 inch 10$ fan blowing over my sump to keep the temps in the 79-82 area.

Smokinprice - yeah you don't wanna know the money it took to get this up and running. I've been crunching numbers on a custom built 180 with all the good stuff and it's scary.
