48"x30"x30" tank build

Good Call on starting out slow. I would test at least the alk every day to start with. Alk can move up and down pretty quickly. I tested daily for the first week when I started dosing just to make sure I wasn't off too much.

So I tested two days later, jumped up to 8.2 alk, dropped my dosing down to 5ml last night, Checked again today at the same time as yesterday and still 8.2. I'm gunna keep dosing and testing 5ml and see if it stays stable at 8.2. Notice more of a Slight Color brightness in some sps sticks. Going to leave at 8.2 instead of running it back down to 7.5 don't want to swing back and stress out corals. Good call on testing daily. Thanks

oof...watch that doser man....

Yes, I had new heads in the box so I put those on it and cleaned everything that runs the gears, but still it has got me worried. Have heard Numerous horror stories with jebao dosers, Will switch to a ghl asap! For now I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

Test daily and ideally at the same time of day. I test at lights out every day without fail unless I'm on vacation

Sean why at lights out? I have always tested during lights on full.

Just cause they go out at the same time every day, so it's an easy way for me to test at a consistent time

And

PH is the highest it's going to be all day, and therefore my calrx will be at the weakest point of the day. This should be the lowest my alk will be all day. That doesn't matter so much as the fact that my morning and evening results will be a little different and if I was trying to dial it in while testing an random times, I would be chasing my tail for weeks

Day 68, well I must say I have been pretty lucky so far, parameters have been locked in with only having to adjust my dosing once. 5ml a day of tropic Marin balling method has had me at
8.1dkh hanna
430 cal(roughly) Red Sea coral pro test
1-2ppm No3 Red Sea coral pro
Po4 undetectable (chaeto in sump) RS coral Pro
Magnesium (need to test, Been slacking on that one)

But good news. As of today I noticed a big increase with coralline algae starting to spot on the rocks and cover frag plugs. Pretty Good sign for such a young tank. I said I was going to take my time and add corals and fish slow, all sps corals and fish as of now are fish I had already had in my old setup, besides the two frags I had boughten shortly ago. The urge to buy high end beautiful pieces is very tempting but I want to at least make sure my tank matures for a year before I get crazy with higher end stuff. So if anybody has some OG Frags in the near future, let me know. Adding a coral here and there won't hurt as long as I make sure my nutrient export and dosing stay in check. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the Labor Day weekend!

My biggest mistake with the new build was not curing my dry rock before adding it to the main display, I think that may be why the rocks got so ugly at first, but slowly with the help of a small clean up crew and time it is starting to look good again. Make sure to cure your dry rock and not be like me [emoji6]

these bad boys got some flow. Curious to see how long they will last. Got a year warranty on both of them just in case

Is this the cp-25? How do you like it? I've read that some of them are pretty noisy.
Do you think this would be enough flow for an 80 gal?

Cp40, I have two on my 4' wide tank, if U went with the cp25 on both sides of ur 80 gallon u should be fine, depending on what type of coral u are going to have, will determine ur flow. Sps high flow, lps moderate. No noise issues over here.
