497 ocellaris clown fish in 55gal tank

Nice work Reefstew. Do you mind sharing the financial incentives in raising/wholesaling these fish?

Without saying what the wholesale price is what I am getting it is about 1/3 to 1/4 of the retail price. It is a LOT of work & if you can't find buyers your in a tough place.

not to be intrusive or anything reefstew but lets say if all the clowns go for $10 at retail price, thatll be like $4970. so your looking at $1242.50-$1656.67? i could buy another tank with that! but im assuming your barely making even. good luck in the future tho i do love that people are able to do this. maybe i could even get into breeding!

I have 5 breeding pairs of Ocellaris , 2 of Black& White, 3 of Orchid dottybacks & Erectus seahorses. The Ocellaris have been in the 200+ range after metamorphis. The B&W around 50-100.

The fish take 4 to 6 months & then I sell them. I am not using the 55 gal. tank at this time. All fish are in a 18 tank grow out system.

I got about 300+ IN A 40 gal tank. I also find that keeping them with Algae help with keeping the nutrients especially ammonia down
