For all of you out there that have 5.5 aga's and have modded it to have a back section for overflow/fuge/whatever, i need your input.

1. Im showing 15 7/8's for the length and around 9" height. How much space did you leave between the back wall and the front? I'm thinking of 3".

2. What size return pump are you using?

3. If you drilled it for a sump can you u/l pics?

Thats all for now, any replies appreciated.

i did a little expirement for my brother with a 5.5 gallon and honestly just made a sump directly behind the tank it sounds dumb but it looks good the 5.5 was a little tight i will be honest (much easyer with a 10 gal. or so) it only left me with about 6.5 inches of actual tank to rockscape with and such, but heres what i did i bought a 16 3/16x10 inch peice of acylic. meassure it half way over, cut out small notches for an overflow and left the other side alone, then i made the baffles to slow the flow down and let it actualy filter the water with the hang on filter that was in there(the sump part is good to slow flow down) in a small tank like this a filter can cause a wirlpool so this helped slow the water down i drilled a small hole in the acrylic just big enough for a power head to spit out water i then painted the sheet black (you can paint it what ever) and glued it into place about 2 inches from the back of the tank he was now able to fit eveything back there his heater protien skimmer ect. the tank looked pretty clean from the front. we set it up for a test run andit worked great although we did notice that we took to much flow out but nothing that a $7 power head cant fix! :) hope this helps!

how are you measuring to get 16 3/16's for a piece that would fit in there?
