5.5 Gallon Quarantine Tank?

Is this big enough for small fish such as Bangaiis?

I'm limited on space, and I would prefer not to dedicate my 30L QT tank to 4 small fish.

If I have to, I can relocate one of my waterchange bins to make room for a 10G, but I would really prefer not to.

Second question, if I did go ahead with the 5.5G, would a Cobalt MJ-400 powerhead be too powerful for it? This would be in addition to a sponge filter.

Should be OK so long as you are only QT'ing 2-3 small fish at a time. But don't overdo it, and monitor ammonia closely. I wouldn't use a PH in a tank that small - just an airstone.

The idea is to qt 4 small tank raised Bangaii cardinals. I have a lot of experience with them as an employee of a lfs (we once had a disaster of an anemone wipe out and the cardinals toughed it out like champs). They are very resilient animals.

So would you do the airstone in addition to the air pump powered sponge filter? Or maybe even the air stone inside the sponge filter? I'm going to be using the deep blue sponges.

I've had success keeping more than two together before.

I just finished my TTM this morning with a pair of 10g. I Think it's a good size tank because I had did a pair of clowns. My next purchase are a few Anthias....so if you ever plan on doing more than 1/2 fish at once, than I think the extra water volume of the 10 would be better. I ran throw away air stones, and a seeds sponge from my QT tank.

Snorvich was EXTREMELY HELPFUL with questions I initially posted.....take his advice!!

I take all advice and put it together with my own research and experience to form the best possible solution to my problem/question. As much as I appreciate advice from others I also have to have some faith in my own abilities as an aquarist otherwise I will always second guess myself.

And yes I know the 5.5G is limiting but I have a 30G long as a quarantine as well.

If you're utilizing an air driven sponge filter, that should suffice for gas exchange and no air stones are needed.
