5' tank lighting

Was planning a 5' tank that I will install in a few weeks, and was thinking of a Maxspect 300W fixture for lighting, which should be enough.

Any other thoughts or suggestions any other LED fixtures?

The tank will be 5'x2'x2' and is expected to house mostly LPS and softies, with the possibility of SPS in the future.

I putting together a tank with the same dimensions 150. I looked at the 300W razor 16K, but I was told it would leave the ends dark so I passed. I ended up going with 4 regular AI hydras. For the same cash as new Razor you can get 3 hydra26s.

Thanks, I was looking at the Hydra's and I'll have an Apex, so would be nice to control them from there.

Would three hydra26 be better or 2 52's?

Theres a facebook group as well that does the Chinese lights.

Search for Chinese Blackbox LED Proof Group.

They have a few different options.

I used 2 x 165w Chinese Black Box Timer Lights, better spectrum and cool features, remote control and built in LCD screen with 3 channel timer, cost me $133 each shipped,Corals are doing great, I'm glad I read reviews on the FB Group, well worth it.

Technically either 3x 26s or 2x 52 will work, but 26 will give you a more even coverage. My plan is to eventually upgrade the hydras to 52s.

Yes, I know lots of people using the chinese black box leds with success, but I would take a used hydra over new black box any day.

thanks. I think I'll go with the 3 x Hydra26, with an AWM module to hook up to the Apex. We'll take it from there. The Maxspect is a good unit, but I like the idea of having everything in the tank controlled through the Apex.
