You can't depend on your eyes. You should get a PAR meter to see how that sunlight will affect your corals (if at all). This may play a role in how you set your lighting up for the tank.

Yes certainly , when the tank is filled with water , Par measurements will be taken at different points , depths and intervals so that supplementary lights can be integrated to enhance natural sunlight .

I believe it's tiered. If you look the "decks" on the left side don't completely cover each other creating a kind of stair step look. That and the perspective the photo is being shot from can fool the eye.
