50,000 litre tank in a boutique hotel (Bangkok , Thailand)

I've been reading this thread for awhile and one question keeps coming to mind. How does one pay for such an endeavor.

If you wanted to do something like this you'd need a business plan and collateral and then the bank would give you a loan. (They'll loan up to a certain percentage, so if you wanted to purchase the hotel and renovate and install that they'd figure out what the value of it would be and they would take the hotel as collateral, but that wont be enough, you'll generally need to come up with another 25%-35%, which could be other property you own, land, houses, cars.. etc).. many people get small business loans through the equity they have in their homes.

So if the business fails, they can take your personal property?

If you default on the loan they can. If your business fails but you have ways to pay the loan no problem. and even if the business is successful but you can't pay the loan they can still take it.

Yikes. I'm sure this gentleman is successful in past endeavors. What a project.

Absolutely phenomenal, I love checking in to this thread.

How do the locals view your changes to the neighbourhood?

Those big rocks look tiny in there :p

Yes very much indeed

thx for sharing the whole progress. Feels like we do it together...
The place to stay for every aquariumfriend travelling in Bangkonk...

All aquarium friends are welcome at a very special rate.

Wow, awesome transformation of both the building and the tank. Really enjoying this one!

Thanks for following

When do you start to take reservations? :)

September would be a good start !!

Do you plan to put live coral in the tank?

Yes mostly SPS but we are still waiting for government license to keep and breed corals as it is still illegal in Thailand . We have applied to work with government agency in the field of research and propagation of corals.

Thanks for following !!

Wow! Those structures are on another level!

Loving this! Will you be stocking real coral or using artificial or FOWLR?

If you are going for coral, I'd love to hear more about the lighting and also how the system is going to run, filtration, nutrient export, flow etc

This thread is making me want to emigrate and open a hotel/restaurant with a massive reef tank! :)

Yes we will be stocking the tank with live corals and will do researches on topic of coral spawning and hybridization between different species and it will be a joint research with Thai government .

As for lights we are still undecided whether to go for LED or Halide , we will decide later but so far we will try to make use of natural sun light and supplement the rest.

As for flow we have closed loops with sea swirls and also large hydro wizard in addition to Carlson surge device .

For filtration we use 2 commercial needle wheel skimmers and a large refugium with Macro algae to export nutrients.

We have also incorporated triton system into our tank .

You are always welcome !! hahaha

Rock work is looking great! Thanks for the continued updates.

Thanks for following .

Just wondering if the 'reef building' guys have done this type of work before? On another large tank?

Yes they have done quite a few private and public aquariums.

wow, what an amazing tank!

Thanks for following.

There is no S in Baht by the way. Not that it matters. Plural has the same pronunciation and spelling as singular
