The whole tank looks incredible and the scarus quoyi parrot fish and the puffer are prizes. Nice work👍😎

I see you have allot of fish that are not reefsafe any reason why

Since I have a very large tank , i want to try a variety of fish , reef safe and not so reef safe, just like in the ocean and study their behaviour on both SPS and LPS just like I tried adding fish that cannot be kept together in a small tank . I also observed that the so called nocturnal fish that supposed to only come out to to hunt at night , do come out a lot during day time when there is a large population of fish swimming around .

I searched through the thread but may have missed it; where is the hotel in Bangkok? Will be flying there tomorrow for a week and would love to stop by and see it in person! It is coming along very nicely!!

Very nice but how will you know what fish is doing damage and what is not

I'm not sure the goal is to have a fish assemblage that will be completely reef safe. In a tank that large with so many coral colonies, the vast majority of them will survive being chomped on a time or two. By simply watching the fish for set periods of time you can easily determine which one is picking at corals. People perform these activity studies quite often on reef patches.

It's in the display already? Don't get me wrong, this is a very cool looking fish but I fear that you have made a mistake. Hopefully the incredible amount of space available in this tank will reduce the likelihood that this fish kills many of its tankmates.

I have had this little psycho ( some would call him ) before in my 6000 L tank with a group of triggers and many other tank mates for several years . I think the trick is to provide him with ample space ( he is very territorial ) and also keep him well fed .
In our present tank ( 50,000 L)we now have more than 1,000 fish with several show size triggers ( clown trigger - 45 cm , picasso - 35 cm ) and several large puffers so he should be kept in line .
We will see how he will behave and can report his progress occasionally . The xanthic undy is still quite young ( 8-9 cm ) ,in size and hopefully will be a show piece in the display tank in the future, if his colour does not revert back to its original colour . There are reports that xanthic condition results from foods and temperature so if kept in captivity , the colour will slowly fade away . I will certainly be doing some observation and study on xanthic colouration .
Next week we also have aberrant scopa tang to be released into the display tank too .

Thanks for your concern !! Fully appreciated .

Thanks for that explanation on the undulated. It's a really great looking fish. Let's hope it will work in this tank as well. Will be cool to see a system where this species can integrate with the entire assemblage.

Such an awesome thread. Thought I read you were changing water with natural seawater? Do you think that and the natural sunlight will help with the coloring of the Undi?
