50,000 litre tank in a boutique hotel (Bangkok , Thailand)

No aggressions from Sohal, Clown and Dussumieri against other fish?

No aggressions from these fish towards theier own species or other species . They were all very small two and a half years ago and since had grown into a very large fish together . They were quite aggressive towards their own species when were first introduced into the tank but after a week all aggressions were completely gone and they now lived in peace and harmony execpt only for a few occasions when they chased each other briefly for reasons of territory encroachment .

@LJC6780, the word with the unfamiliar letters, grüße, means greetings. It is not part of his name, which is Torben. Grüße can alternately be written as gruesse. If you say 'gruesome' like 'gruesuh', you'd stand a reasonable chance of being understood by native speakers. :)

Ah! Thank so much for the explanation! I know it is off topic but I had no idea how to pronounce the word and it was bothering me! I also thought Torben was his last name. [emoji4] oops. (I like that name btw) anyway, thanks! Grüße!

Sorry for the wrong language. I using Tapatalk to surf in different forums maintenance in germany. So the "Grüße Torben" will automatically write by Tapatalk. Should change in "Greets Torben" and everybody will understand also in germany ;)

Now I am in a dilemma having to make a choice between a needle wheel type skimmer or a traditional venturi type skimmer . Any suggestions ?

sirichok,

I see your dilemma, I will admit the temptation if money and space and electrical is no object to go venturi is great. I too love venturi systems. But in terms of space running cost and availability needle wheel is a winner. None the less it goes with out saying MRC and R2K can help with both systems.

If you want a proven custom skimmer with either method take a look at Bill Wanns Custom skimmers. He has a 20,000 gallon (75,000 liter) aquarium in his house.

I am a big fan of Royal, but I think their regular production models maxs out at 20,000 liter rating.

If you can get Reef Octopus they have a large Commercial selection.

Look forward to seeing what you decide on.

I am sure you know this but if you decide on venturi skimmer please make sure to get the best pumps possible :)

you will find arguments for both, but if you look at the data there is very little difference in performance

for that matter, there is very little difference in performance of all skimmers, regardless of price

personally I like to have several skimmers running, I have four on my 1400g system: 2 downdraft Becket injectors skimmers Barr 5220's, an RK2 25PE and a BK 500. All produce lots of skimmate. Having several running at the same time increases the probability than one of them will be tuned properly. I do not believe you can over skim, at least that has been my experience. Skimmers are not very efficient at removing waste, about 20-25% efficiency, much lower than carbon for example.
