50 Cube SPS Zeo Reef

Man you making me want to fire up my zeovit reactor the colors are amazing truthfully it is with zeovit that i have gotten the best colors out of my acros. After i get back from vacation will turn it back on.

Don't forget about your friends in NA, namely Canada ;) Does anyone else have a frag of that, even a small one? If not, you need to get a piece to someone else, that is an acro worth spreading around to ensure it isn't lost! You have some incredible corals with amazing colours. :)

A fire engine red deep water like that is pretty rare, but hopefully someone in Canada will bring one in :)

Outstanding photo update, you've got some real beauties
Thanks mate :) really happy with tank!

SPS look lovely. You need to send frags of that Firetruck worldwide mate...starting with the UK...to me. :D
If I could I definitely would send it worldwide! Maybe in a few years once it's a massive colony and I have some sort of export license I'll send it round to everyone! :lol2: everyone at the *same* time

Ive only ever seen it in my tank but I know a few reefers that have it as well that I've shared it with so it's been safeguarded with some really competent reefers and it's going to two more soon! One of them being the lovely Biggles! So it's super safe :D
Thanks for the compliment though!

It's a pain sometimes and sometimes I forget to dose lol but I do really enjoy and love zeo :) it's a lot of fun with some great rewards! Thank you though!

One day I'll start an export business and just export the firetruck :lmao:

Wow Dom, great pics. Glad I didn't look here before posting my top downs. Sheesh. :clown:
haha you top downs were so much better than mine! Half of mine are just glare :hammer: glad you liked them though :)

It's about time you've had an update, slacker. Great looking corals as usual.....but by the great hairy belly of neptune, I love those two corals.
Geez, tough crowd :jester: those two are two of my favourites that are currently growing out, I can't wait for them to turn into larger (small) colonies haha, thanks :)

Awesome thread and amazingly colored acros! I'm just an echo of all the others with living that red smooth skin. I'm curious to how you adjust your white balance to get such great shots? What camera and lens do you use?

Thank you and thank you :) haha it's an amazing piece isn't it! I still can't believe that I managed to get it too!
The camera I use is a Canon EOS1100D with just the standard lens that comes with the camera so nothing fancy at all :) there is a custom white balance setting that I use to adjust the white balance. Basically take a photo and set it as your custom white balance, if it turns out wrong rinse and repeat till you find the right balance, does that make sense? lol

I thinking a little earlier, while reading some of the awesome compliments you guys have been saying about the tank.
I have always spent a lot of time browsing the various forums around the world and admiring the tanks and efforts made by some of the most incredible reefer's around. Gravitating towards the acro heavy tanks and those with high angel or butterfly populations and just admiring, everything about the tank and what that person usually stands for because of the way they keep their reef. Quietly thinking to myself the whole time that I wish with all my heart that I could achieve what those girls and guys are capable of doing, the colour, the PE, the scaping, the cleanliness, the dedication to their system and animals or even the photography skills! lol

There are more than a few of you here that have commented on my thread and such and while I always say thank you, I really can't express how awesome it makes me feel and how inspired I get by hearing (well reading) that you think my attempt at a reef tank is good by any measure of the word. I love my tank, I love the fact that I have coral growing in there, that there are ocean fish in my living room. I just think that is the coolest thing ever! But what makes it even more awesome is that you guys, some who have been doing this for over a decade compared to my 2 years, think my tank is pretty cool :D

I just want to say seriously thank you to everyone who's taken the time to read my thread, comment or just quietly lurk and look at the pics :) You all keep me pretty inspired and enthused with your kind words!

You're a good guy Dom and a member of the blue thumb acro club when it comes to pulling great colors from your corals. You do your best to show pics that are true to life rather than color shifted to accentuate particular pigments etc so i know the results you're getting are real as do all the other reefers who have surprised you with their comments.
We are all looking forward to watching your SPS reef grow mate

I thought you might like to know some history on one of your frags :)

December 2014 when i bought the original stress bleached piece, it arrived the day before so was collected off the GBR less than a week before i got hold of it.

I was told over the phone the acro was a purple milli so i asked Keith at Williamstown aquarium to hold it for me as i was coming to visit. It only looked purple because it was actually pink with blue tip highlights and flouro green/gold corallite lips where less intense light had been hitting it on the reef.

This closeup of the new acro will give you an indication of how saturated you have the red/pink color now and how much more blue the tip highlights are going to extend down ;)

Very nice colors. I seem to have Cyano or Dino issues when I do any zeo suppliments. how has this tank been with regards to that?

Thanks Andrew :) You're one of the biggest inspirations ;) I'm definitely really happy with how the photo's have been turning out of late too, I actuaclly haven't been editing them at all. Just uploading them straight from the camera because they've just looked true to life without editing. I can't wait to watch it grow out either, still amazes me everyday!

Oh wow :eek1: that is not what I would have ever expected it to look like fresh off in the tank. What an amazing difference in colour over time, there's not even a faint hint of red anywhere on it however the corallite colour seems to have remained fairly unchanged though. If I could get blue tips that long on this piece I think I'd die of excitement, it nearly gets me with just the red and gold!

Tank looks awesome dom and the colors makes me want unplug my tank:p
Great job:thumbsup:
Thanks mate haha don't be too hasty there, you have a fantastic tank too! I've always been jealous of your aquascape! :)

Nice pictures. HOw are you liking your skimmer?
I love it, I think the RLSS make an excellent skimmer and I haven't had a single issue with it since getting it over two years ago now :) easy to clean and tune!

Very nice colors. I seem to have Cyano or Dino issues when I do any zeo suppliments. how has this tank been with regards to that?
Thanks mate :) I still really only use the basic zeo supps; the stones, start, bak, sponge power and carbon on a regular basis. The other supps I use are zeozym twice a week and b-bal every second day. Coral vitalizer and aminos get added very inconsistently haha maybe once or twice a week lol. I've never had any cyano or dino issues in the tank though, there was a green cyano like algae for a week or so in the beginning but I ignored it and it was gone as fast as it appeared.

What supps have you tried?

Thank you and thank you :) haha it's an amazing piece isn't it! I still can't believe that I managed to get it too!

I'll keep messing with the white balance! How blue are your lights when you are shooting?

Terrible tank video time! lol please excuse the quality :blown:
