May I ask what 's the name and color of the stain you use for the stand? I really like this color.
Thanks. I like it too. It's:
Minwax
Wood Finish
Ipswich Pine (221)

Thank you!

I know a little about surges.... I prefer the Carlson.

I'm sure Rod can tweak a Bornman like there's no tomorrow.

I wouldn't see a problem with either source giving info. about surges out. :)

its my understanding with the carlson surge you need a larger pump but with the bornman you could use a maxi jet if you wanted to:-)

Thats probably why I favor the Carlson. I run my return pumps to the surges so I have been concerned with how to get more flow into a surge, not less. I have had them with lower flow(don't need 1/2 the vents that mine have), but love the bigger surges. It gives me a chance to get the intensity of the Bornman with less of a "burp" in the beginning and less noise. Either way, a surge is a surge and nothing can do what a surge can for that price. IMO.

I also love the fact that I don't use ANY powerheads anymore. :) No extra power strips for the tons of powerheads, no pumps to clean or replace. :D

agree 100% i love my surge :-) untill the big burp of my bornman blew out a brand new bulb lol
i need to reduce the pipe size is all

would love to see your in action one day
:-/

what do you want to see in action?
him or his surge, or tank

:lolspin:

lil squid- What size is your surge pipe now? I'm able to do a 2" Carlson with no burp. I'll be trying (2) 3" soon. :D

Which air trap? In the sump or for the surge?

You're more than welcome to come and check EVERYthing out. ;) :lmao:

i ran it all 1 1/4" i think mabe 1 1/2" what ever size the tollet flapper size are lol sorry im at work right now
but with the return being at the surface it splashed alot of water which broke my light at 14 or so inches above it lol
so i added a T to the drain and have one facing the back of the tank and the other toward the front way less splashing now

i like the air trap you have on the surge return not sure if that would work with my setup or not

i have one more sump i am going to use for a 2nd surge so looking for ideas

It all started while we were at Tonya's house. After my soon to be girlfriend Jen saw me, she fell in love . Since she has shown so much interest in saltwater tanks after tank sitting at juggy's house, I felt it was necessary to set up a kick butt tank at my house. Now, she had narrowed it down for me! So quickly I went off to Menards. Picked up the tub, 2x4s, 1x4s, a sheet of plywood and of coarse, handles and hinges. I already had the stain that we used for the room.... perfect. A couple days later and this is what I came up with:

The tank looks awesome but.................I hate setting up nice people with nice people;)

Looks awesome Dave! Your plumbing kicks the crap out of mine!
Did the clowns and wrasse survive the trip to their new homes?

Ryan.
